Just because a car type is valued low, book price, doesnt necessarily mean that every single vehicle is ACTUALLY valued at such. People do have a tendancy to modify performance cars often making them of a value way above the book price for a bog standard vehicle.
That may be so, but if I was going to nick a car in order to sell it on then I'd be targeting something that would be sought after (like a £75K GT-R) as opposed to a £28K Scooby.

Modding vehicles doesn't necessarily increase their value either. I have a friend who has a 1975 Kawasaki Z900 that has more mods than you can shake a stick at and it's worth (at best) around £2.5K.
If he had left it in standard trim however, it would easily be worth £4K to sell now.

I hope your friend does get her car back, but please tell her to spend some money on a half decent security system rather than an exhaust system that has probably cost her 10 BHP because it's breathing way too much as a car like her's is way too easy to steal.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
  • When it is recovered, best to remove the reg plate from your first post.

Surprised it hasn't been used for a ram raid. I thought low value fast cars were either pinched for joy-riding or criminal related activities as they have no real resale value.

As we don't live in downtown LA, most cars (as all nowadays need more than a flat screwdriver and a tug at the steering wheel) are stolen because someone wants a major part, engine, transmission or interior that they don't want to honestly pay for.
The scum who actually lift them certainly don't get hundreds of pounds for being the ones likely to go to jail.
  • I don't think you have ever heard of organised crime.

People who nick high value cars and ship them away in containers usually have a nice cushy 4 bed detached house mortgage free with a 50" TV on the wall.

    Erm, I have a 55" TV.. ;)

That would be what i would think its fate will be.

Oh and believe, this car is worth more than £700.

unless any mods have been declared and agreed, the insurance company will pay out on the value of what a "Standard" WRX is worth, so probably around £1000-1200 ish.

Also, if there were any undeclared mods, i wouldnt go telling the insurance company to try and get the payout up, as they may decide it was the extra mods that made the car be stolen and not pay out.
  • I recommend that everyone buys a Rover 400 series. No respecting car thief would ever be seen dead in one. (Yes, I had one....)

I wonder how many times they tried to bring it back. Every night for five weeks but it kept braking down.
