Hi there,
So I have paid a deposit that was over £100 on a holiday with my credit card.
However, I am considering switching banks which I think will force me to cancel that credit card, as it is a student credit card and I will be closing my student account.
So if I cancel this credit card, am I still protected for this holiday having paid for it with a credit card even though that credit card has been cancelled?
Thanks

In theory yes but expect them to wriggle like anything of you make a claim. You need to be hard nosed if need be.jamesmcalister wrote: »Hi there,

You may not have been protected in the first place! Check if your circumstances fall into one of the exceptions here...jamesmcalister wrote: »So if I cancel this credit card, am I still protected for this holiday having paid for it with a credit card even though that credit card has been cancelled?

Just for info, it's not necessary to pay over £100 deposit...any amount will do. It's the item cost that needs to be >£100 (subject to the aforementioned exceptions/exclusions).0 -
Switching banks does not mean you HAVE to close your present credit card.0

It may be if it is a card offered as part of a package based on certain circumstances, which seems quite likely given what is written in the first post.
However, it makes no difference to the legal position - s75 (if eligible) still applies even if the account is closed. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
