Problem with refund

I sold my xbox one to CEX in store 11 days ago, as I wanted a laptop in store it was advised for me to take store credit for the sale as they offer a better rate for In store credit than cash. Today I have had to take the laptop back as it is faulty, It was sold to me as tested and fully working, I have asked for a refund and informed them that I am willing to take the lower amount of cash offered for the original sale. They have said that as I purchased the item using in store credit that is all they can refund me? I do not want in store credit, I want cash so I am able to buy a fully working laptop elsewhere...are they well within their rights to say all I can have is in store credit? When the item they sold to me was faulty?

Seems unlikely as you chose initially to have those CEX vouchers, and they are putting you back in to the same position before sale.
Can you eBay the CEX vouchers or buy something of known value to eBay? and then buy the laptop else where?
CEX are simply the worst company I have ever dealt with for customer service, awful, which is probably why they have no working phone numbers.
Games are OK but I wouldn't want to be holding any electronics from CEX again.0
