Started out with a BT Vision box, it didn't have HD so I bought the Humax T2 Freeview+

I was then given the BT Youview box, I was part of the Youview trial, and they didn't want it back when the trial ended.

The Youview is the main box, I use the Vision box if there's ever more than two things I want to record but that's very rare.

I put the Humax T2 on my Boat, I have a narrowboat.

Ok, I think the BT YouView T2100 seems the best deal for what I want but Amazon are selling 2 types which is confusing. One with Humax in the description and the other without, Identical boxes and both Bt.

The other option is Humax HDR-Fox T2 as it still seems a good model BUT doesn't have youview.

The question is will I really need youview when you can record programs anyway.

I still have the old analogue ariel which works with my sony flatscreen tv with freeview. Although when the wind gets up the signal does break up quite often giving strange, creative results on people's faces.
You may need to sort out the aerial system and or cables... although reception through trees can give rise to the symptoms described, often an improved aerial can combat that... so do budget something towards that. The last thing you want is to have recordings that break up due to the poor signal from your aerial.

NB If you sign up with BT or Talk Talk on a TV package contract term you will get a 'free' box from them.

If you have a working satellite dish with two feeds from the lnb then you could consider a <freetime> satellite pvr such as http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/products/product.php?gid=436 which gives all the features you have asked for.

I am due to come out of Sky this month so will re-negotiate with them. I would rather not get into contracts for tv.

I also recommend the BT youview DTR 2100 (no BT subs needed).
    Good points :- fast menus
Watch out for:- needs a good aerial (I guess the tuners are not as good as previous Humax boxes); Startup time is very slow unless you disable "Eco start" in which case the hard drive is on all the time.

Get a new one on Ebay for about £100. If you go this route check a. its a new item b. warranty is a must c. check seller history
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
