City Car Club - 8 years membership count towards my NCD?

I think this is a perverse suggestion. YOU never had a policy in your name, the Car Club had a master policy for its hirers of which you paid an element as part of the usage of the car. So the ad hoc use of a car that you did not have a named policy for means there is no expectation of any NCD, and it would be an irrelevance for any premium calculation.
  • City Car Club were happy to provide us with evidence that we'd driven with them for a few years when we decided to get a car, we got a discount with our insurer but they didn't class it as 'official' NCD (so we couldn't insure with them for a year and then clear off and get 5+ years with someone else I'm guessing). Looked like a pretty standard letter from City Car Club so they must get asked to provide it a lot.

We decided to keep on our membership with them even after buying a car - means we always have a backup/the choice of getting a 7 seater or a van if we need the extra space.

Are you going to tell the OP which insurer gave you a discount because of your CCC membership? :D
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Yep. Got the letter which looks like a standard template. Would be great if you could let me know who the insurers are!
Not expecting a full 8 yrs discount but some sort of reflection on 8 years of weekly driving without incident would be good...

    As #2.

See what introductory discount you can get via a local broker

I'd lay good money you would get the same introductory discount with or without the letter
  • Thanks for all your help.

Went with Ecoinsurance (Co-op) in the end. Diddly squat for NCD. Oh well, worth a try.
