I ordered a £29 toy last week which was delivered today and have just seen that it is listed on the deals for later this evening.

I phoned Amazon and was told that if I rebought it tonight at the deal price I would not be able to return the higher priced item.

Does anybody know if this is correct?

Not sure on that one as obviously you have the right as a consumer to return for any reason within 14 days (but you may have to pay postage). To be "safe" can't you ask someone else to buy the deal for you on their account and give them the money? Though I suppose if the reduction isn't that much and you have to pay postage back - it might not be worth it
Saving for a return trip to America, 3 weeks on Route 66 for our honeymoon just wasn't long enough!

Quick question - does everyone know about using the CamelCamelCamel website to check if a lightning deal price is actually a good deal or not? It shows you the price history of Amazon products.

Won't repeat it all if it's common knowledge already...??
  • Couldn't resist the Deva EDGE104 kitchen tap at a bargainous £42.99 - will be perfect for our planned new kitchen!

Edit: still only 51% claimed at time of writing.

    Thanks Zippyladoodles.

I had been hoping they would say they would match the reduced price and refund me the difference!

The cost of return is £3.30 so I'll use your idea of trying to find someone to buy it for me if the deal reduction is good.
  • Was so tempted by the World at War series but resisted the temptation as it would have been a complete impulse buy! I'm so proud of myself :) haha
You bowl like your mother. Unless of course she bowls well, in which case you bowl nothing like her <3 Big Bang Theory :)

    You can return it.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Thanks emweaver. Every pound counts, especially at this time of year!
  • Just because that's what they told you, doesn't mean it's true... especially if it was to cover up something else.
Plus, maybe they expanded since last year?

At any rate, the four things I was looking at so far I didn't end up getting. Not so much the price, just when the crunch came to the crunch, I didn't really need it.
REMEMBER: the x% off is from the original retail price they had it at. It might only be a few pounds off the current selling price. They also have the same "lightning deals" all throughout the year, which work the same way. Black Friday just have bigger discounts supposedly.

The Philips clock was one thing as my partner needs one but it seemed a little too old fashioned with the dials on the sides.

Will wait and see what the rest of the week holds, and if I'm still interested, they may have it again next week.

Obviously I can only base my comments on what Amazon informed me, I had no reason to believe they had/would lie, based on post directly above yours, could be they meant servers were separate which I am happy to accept.
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:
