New Car- bought spare wheel option but came with no jack
Title says it all. Bought a new Vauxhall and paid £100 for a spare wheel but when the car was delivered it came with no way of fitting the tyre in the event of a puncture as there was no jack or wheel brace.
Does anyone know when buying a spare wheel as an option on a new Vauxhall whether a jack and wheel brace is then included?
As a side issue the car also came without a towing bolt as no doubt this would have been provided in the puncture repair kit that was substituted for the wheel.
I emailed the salesman who said he would look into it but he has never came back to me.

I don't know about Vauxhalls, but we went into this with our Ford garage when my wife got her C-Max. Ford do a spare wheel kit, which includes wheel and tyre, plus the means to change them. Apparently it is a nightmare to fit them in the boot space, but that's not Ford's problem
I would assume that if you had paid extra for a spare wheel (and hopefully the other bits) that you would keep the gloop and compressor for emergencies, and that would include things like the towing eye if they were stored with this. After all, they were part of the car you paid for, not a substitution.
I'd be banging on their door, not waiting for an email that might never happen.
We didn't go for the rather expensive Ford kit in the end. I said I would get a s/h wheel and tools, but so far I haven't got round to it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
its getting common for manufactuers to not include anything such as spare wheel jack wheel brace etc in order to keep costs at a bare minimum and generate cash if you wish to now buy them.
so find a jack online to a cheaper price than a dealer would sell one and and a good breaker bar wheel brake with the 19mm 17mm 18mm socket adaptors.0 -
I would agree with that. The only reason to pay dealer prices for an OEM jack and brace is that they will be designed to fit into a specific space in the car. If there is no space for them, it makes sense to buy as cheaply as possible and probably get something that works better actually works into the bargain.
I have an extendable bar with reversible sockets which will shift just about anything. My wife, who is much less strong than me, prefers one of those cross-shaped braces with a socket on each arm. She reckons that being able to pull with one arm and push with the other gives her far more leverage on the nut. Awkward to stow, but if a 'normal' brace is going to be just as awkward, why not?If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
In some Yarisis the jack is under the passenger seat!0

I would have thought the spare wheel would come with jack etc.
They do with Kia,s whenthe wheel is added as an option.
I wouldnt be waiting for an email reply though I would be visiting the dealer0 -
Bit difficult to visit the dealer as they are 100 miles away.
I was thinking that a spare wheel, which is a £100 option when buying a Vauxhall included a jack and a brace as a jack and a brace does not appear on the option list for the car. No doubt they could be bought as a maintenance purchase from the spares department or online but I am thinking I have been short changed with missing items.0 -
Why not just go to Vauxhall Customer Services and ask them?

Hardly anyone would change a wheel at the roadside these days, 10 years ago i'd have started that sentence with "women", but these days most blokes are just as useless/lazy.
I think manufacturers consider this an opportunity to save money AND reduce the weight off their already bloated cars.
I recall a few years ago, one of my neighbours borrowed the jack from my Vectra, to change the wheel on her Zafira. I don't know if she had a spare wheel, but the jack was returned about 2 hours later with a box of chocolates“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

One of these (standard) kits and a compressor and you're set for most occasions.0

The jack in my Vauxhall is inside the spare wheel with the towing eye.
Just give the supplying dealer a call and ask them to post it you.
Out of interest which model is it?0
