On a country road where it's already difficult to pass one bike? I don't think so. Many cyclist are out of control, cycling at full speed on footpaths and in general being a down right nuicance.
Then you wait until it is safe. It doesn't occur to motorists often that the reason a cyclist appears to be deliberately slowing the traffic behind is to hopefully stop said traffic from doing something stupid that could get them both killed, such as overtaking coming up to a blind corner.
My biggest pet peeve when I cycled to work were the drivers who absolutely had to roar past you just to screech to a halt behind the long line of traffic at the lights up ahead.0 -

What about the twits who pass you and then pull up or turn left? I bike to work because it's pretty much free and it's faster than driving. When I lived in London, it used to take me exactly 15 minutes getting from kings cross to Kensington (darling) every single time. With driving or public transport, the variation was huge. The bike meant I could spend another 40 minutes in bed.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Unfair, on said roads you should be cycling single file rather than 2+ abreast for miles at a time.0 -

You're correct, he was in the middle of the lane, not the road. However, in my opinion, a cyclist should be in the cycle lane where there is one provided (as there was in this case). There is zero risk of having a car door flung open into you when there are no parked cars (and there were none here either). Can't understand why a cyclist deliberately chooses not to use the cycle lane when there is one provided
Fortunately your opinion is not law.0 -
True, I initially wrote the sentence without those three words, then before hitting 'post' I reread it, realised that I have no right to say what cyclists should do and then decided to clarify that it was just what I thought. Interesting that you decided to highlight that :TRichardD1970 wrote: »Fortunately your opinion is not law.0 -

Yes, really. I have been very nearly floored on several occasions by male lycra-clothed would-be Tour de France competitors around the Stranmillis area.0 -

Well next time you see anyone cycling on a pavement full speed and out of control, be sure to phone the police. They're probably drunk.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0
