It is so dependant upon circumstances - although one cubic metre of gas a day is quite remarkable. For the record, our 4-bed detached using gas for central heating only, is currently using 11 cubic metre a day.
Odds on it is your supplier rebalancing your account. Who is your supplier? Scottish Power were found to be double-charging for gas earlier this year. Check that the start and end readings match from one bill to the next over the last 18 months.0 -

I have calculated that we use 5.87 units a day for gas over 159 days i would like to add we were not here for 2 weeks.
6 units a day for washing and cooking is extraordinary. My wife and I average about 1.1cubic metres of gas a day in the summer months. What sort of boiler and hot water system do you have? We have a system boiler and unvented tank and the hot water is controlled in the range 55 to 60C.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. my supplier is edf i must add that i have not used the heating at all the bills look fine the readings are fine but 6 units day is mad it should be about 1 unit 2 at the max0

my boiler is a valant and is a combi boiler set at 56c. also i found that the boiler has a seasonal efficiency rating of 79.8 and that is D rated 90 and over is A rated. Also last time i had my boiler serviced i have looked at the engineers report and found that the combustion performance reading is 65 i believe this to be the efficiency rating anything under 70 is bad. Now i am no sherlock but if you put all this together maybe this is why i am using 6 units a day????0

Between May and October (so only hot water) we were using on average 3.5 units a week [0.5/day]. This in a 3 bed house with two adults and one 5 year old.
Currently (hot water and a bit of heating) we are using on average 6 units a week [0.85/day].
So far we haven't even hit 1 unit a day, let alone 6 units!
Oh, and the BG comparison tool says we a slightly above average! (fools)0 -
I would take 7 days worth of reads, which EDF Energy will probably ask you to do if you are quering your consiption. Then, after that if it does not run in line at all with any past usage or similar periods of the year then ask for a check meter. You will pay a £35 charge at first and it should go in for around 1 month then after that if the check meter records different usage your bill be recalculated. If not, then might be worth chdcking your appliances or speaking with a local gas engineer.0

Istar337 Out of interest, is your meter in ft3 or m3?
On the main subject, I agree with the above, take a meter reading for a week at the same time at the end of each day. If you are just using the combi boiler for hot water then 6 units does sound odd.
I have a G rated boiler, and on days (last two especially) when it has been cold outside, with the heating on most of the day, I get through 8m3 which is 89KWH. In summer with just hot water I used 2m3 which is around 22.4kwh.0 -

There is no way to use 6 metric gas units a day for hot water. That is 24,500kWh before you start heating!0 -

not when you consider the OP showers 4 kids both day and night, and I expect the adults shower too, so 12 showers every 24 hours
6 units sound reasonable given the above.0 -

I was thinking the same, as though it's only for hot water and cooking, twelve showers a day must use quite a lot .0
