Need 6 month deal on broadband

Just going through the process of getting a flat after living in a house for 20 years. I need broadband because I work at home a few days per week. I also download the odd movie and maybe watch some sport online.

I don't know how long I'll be in this flat. could be 6 months or could be 12. All depends on when my house is sold.

What are my options? Not so bothered about a landline and am quite happy with Freeview TV. If I sign up for anybody's broadband they re going to want to commit to 12 months I assume??? Unless you know different???

Tried my new postcode in virgin media (L22 5BD) and it tells me I can't get Virgin. Also can't get BT infinity, not that that would have been cheap anyway.

Thanks

If they have to install the landline (or probably just reconnect it) there is a good chance it will be an 18 month contract or a charge for the connection.

Only way past that would be to use 3G but the usage quota is invariably too low to support much beyond browsing and maybe the odd bit of YouTube.

There are one month contracts but you will need to pay the set up fee. Good news is they are pretty much the same price as broadband-only deals. Bad news is that price is ridiculously more expensive than deals bundled with telephones.

If you can live without streaming television and have a mobile phone contract anyway that would be the best. But if you need the uncapped bandwidth of ADSL then you are looking at paying full whack for landline and broadband. £16 + £12.50 per month plus £46 or £56 installation.
  • There is already a phone line installed and it has previously had broadband. There is no Virgin Media provision though.

There is a chance I might be there 12 months.

In any case, if I go with somebody (like Sky, Talk Talk, Tesco, etc) then I wonder if I can transfer my contract to new premises when I do move on?

    Thx
