  • The first time I took my kids, they were aged about 9 and 13, and they both loved it. I went again at the beginning of this year, when they were 11 and 15, expecting them to be fine and my 11 year old was terrified !!
It's more a case of your own imagination scaring you about what will happen, then what you actually see or experience when you're there.
So if your nephew already has a vivid imagination, and is easily scared, then I'd say give it a miss.

my 10 year old daughter says no! i took her to york dungeons on friday and honestly thought she'd be fine but she was terrified and wanted to come out, being the good parent that i am i dragged her around the entire thing (pm me for more top parenting advice!!) I think it's the expectation that something is going to happen that scares you more than the actual place itself, when we'd been in there a while she was ok but she say's she wouldn't go back!

I went with my 5 year old. He is very outgoing though. There were bits where we both jumped. He wasnt tall enough for the ride at the end though. He did understand that the people were actors though he even laughed at some of them!

My sister and BIL took DS and nephew when they were 8 or 9. They were fine going round at the time. However, BIL had to sleep across the end of a double bed with the 2 of them that night in it cos they were cacking themselves and would not sleep alone!!

I took my 9 year old son to the london dungeons on Tuesday, he was really keen to go. You have to queue for a long time, and even when you get inside the entrance there is another queue which is really cramped and stuffy. We didn't get very far and he completely freaked out and we had to leave in a hurry.
They were very good and got us out quickly and gave us a refund. It does depend on the child, but I don't think it's really suitable for children as it plays on their minds and could give them nightmares.
Very expensive too, £19.95 for adults and £13.95 for kids. Also really hot and stuffy, and they sell cans and bottles of water for £1.50!

I did the dungeons for less than a fiver! I bought some free entry vouchers on eBay. That promotion is no longer on now.

Get to the dungeons by 9:45 and there will be hardly any queue. We got there at 9:55am on fri 21st and there were only 5 people queuing! I no sats are much busier though.

It's very entertaining when you come out to see that the queue has grown from nothing all the way under London Bridge!

I'm thinking of getting the late tickets from lastminute.com that cost £6.66- it says join queue at 5.30-but has anyone tried these? Was there time to do it all and also was the queue long? Ta

Just a bit of advice for anyone wanting to use the BOGOF vouchers (the ones you use in conjunction with train tickets) for the Dungeons...you will have to queue for a long time. To get the cheap day return ticket on the train you have to leave a bit later...

Today, we arrived at 12 noon and the queue was around half a mile long (no exaggeration). It was from the entrance of the dungeons up to the entrance to London Bridge Station.

When you get to the end of the line, there is a man saying "If you want to get in within 7 minutes...text this number and you'll be Fast-tracked...you cannot use any vouchers and there is a £3 fee per ticket....otherwise there is a three hour wait from here"

So for two people, instead of £19.95 it was going to be £45.90 if didn't want to stand in the rain for 3 hours. An absolutely outrageous situation, it really narked us so we went and visited the Science Museum and then Natural History Museum (both free!). We could have easily spent a day in each...so before you go for the dungeons, try the museums, they are fantastic and FREE!
