O/S Daily Wednesday 12th November 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but looks dry but windy outside.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was the LO pork, LO cauli/broc cheese, carrots, LO Yorkshires, and gravy, all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be an easy fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, and fish, jacket potato and veg for me.
Got a couple of jobs done yesterday afternoon that needed to be done. Managed to get an online order placed for tomorrow afternoon so I don’t have to struggle in the SM, will have a look through the order again this afternoon and make any necessary adjustments if needed.
Work was ok yesterday, will hopefully get all the emails read today and am still waiting for some access issues to be sorted. May sit with someone today whilst they are serving customers. Foot has swelled up both days I’ve been at work, but again this morning it is more comfortable, but still a bit swollen.
Have a few jobs to do when I get home at lunchtime today.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Hi
I've often read this thread and I hope you don't mind me jumping aboard.
I love OS living but don't do as much as I'd like so this might keep me a little more focused.
Yesterday I hung curtains in the back room having repainted a bit of wall that got damp and the paint bubbled. I was going to get new ones but instead spruced up the old ones I got from ebay a few years ago. Still made me smile to know a pair of full length patio door curtains cost me £4.25!
Work today but I will be making my son's birthday cake tonight. I thought about buying one from Mr Spencer's but know that's not very OS.
Also need to make bread again tonight. I love doing that so it's never a chore.
I hope everyone has a good OS day and thank you for listening.
Kind regards

I was shattered yesterday, couldn't even be bothered to have a shower before bed. I woke up this morning feeling grubby, I washed my hair as soon as I got up thinking it'd help wake me up a bit but it didn't work. I'll jump in the shower when I've finished my coffee, clear up the breakfast things, hang some washing up to dry then drag myself to work.

Hello all,
I've had a sleepless night as it's all dawning on me how bad the situation was. I volunteer at a charity shop and my manager (a volunteer for 29 years) was recently sacked. It's obvious what was going on now that the takings have doubled but I didn't realise at the time and feel a bit dumb. It's all going to be in the local paper on Thursday.
On a brighter note, had my gas and electric bills for the quarter:
Gas £60
Elec £95
That's the best it's ever been but we have been wearing extra layers and hiding under fleecey blankets!
Have a great day everyone xI must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
Morning all
Welcome Slowdown, Mrs LW fingers crossed for Docky, LW your trip sounds wonderful, Molly I hope you are ok, Lilly I hope you are ok too.
My poor hubby, he spent 4 hours yesterday setting out a stage & 200 chairs only to get a phone call last night to say that it should have been set up in a different hall & nobody thought to tell him about the change of plan!
The fish have been fed, hubby has been fed & dropped at work, I'll go to work soon, but I'm not feeling too good still I'm sure it will wear off soon.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
hilstep - Enjoy that wetroom, sounds great.
nmlc - Can you keep the leg elevated whilst you are at work?
Redruby - Hope your Mum heals quickly.
Mrs LW - Such a lot to think about.
I had put a whole chicken in the slow cooker before I left for work yesterday and it was yummy when I had it for dinner, I especially like the vegetables that have been in there all day. Stripped it and put the bones back in so I have lovely stock now.
Soup and salad for lunch, not sure what to have for tea, maybe something mince based.
Must run, DD wants the car today so I am on the train! Take care XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Still warm here, just odd!
Nothing to report really, it's winter and it's dark and I would really really like to still be under my duvet. However, here I am at work browsing whilst getting ready for the day ahead. Not back in the office until Tuesday so it's not all bad.
Had banana and some cashews for breakfast. Soup for lunch and again no idea about evening meal. Not good....
Welcome to newbies.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's looking like it will be quite a nice day here today. I'm at home all day today because I have two friends visiting for a coffee and catch up, one this morning and one this afternoon. I shall have to shift my backside and do a quick tidy round.
I went to the Slimming World meeting with my sister on Monday and although I was horrified at the numbers on the scale, I do feel quite optomistic about finally tackling my excess poundage. I have been following the guidelines and although all the fruit and salad have upset my IBS a bit I am feeling less sluggish already. I am hopeful it will help with my diabetes too.
We are having spanish chicken and veg for tea, a popular choice in our house and very healthy. I did have a failure on Monday with a slimming world recipe for cottage pie. It was unusual as it had a tomatoey base rather than gravy but there was a load of kale in it. Not nice....I'm not keen on kale at all now. My family forced it down but requested that I don't make it again :rotfl:.
Thinking of Lyn and Docky today, hope you can have a bit longer with your lovely doggy and the vetty person will have a solution.
Welcome to slowdown and MadelinesMum too.
Hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever they are up too. Hugs are freely available, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Day off today and I so wanted a lay in, little dog decided though that 7.30 was long enough and paced around till I got myself up, she was desperate for a wee though so I dont mind.
Got a wash on the go and another to go in afterwards it will have to be hung indoors though as its drizzling.
Thanks for the good wishes re mum I am going to see her this afternoon, she has requested some fresh fruit so I shall stop off and get her some. I am also meeting an old friend for lunch which I am really looking forward to, have not seen her for ages.
Mrs LW good luck with your meeting with the vet, my sisters dog has dementia and its fairly well controlled with tablets, please give him a hug from little dog and myself.
Have good days all x0 -
Good Morning everyone, thank you all for being such kind people and for all your good wishes. Docky was slightly better last night and only had us up twice but he's a sicky baby at the moment and not taking his medication. I'm going to phone the vet today and we'll have to decide between us what is best for Docky. I'm going without preconcieved ideas and will listen carefully to the advice we're given but it's really low quality of life for the lad at the moment and I'm not going to keep him going just because I can, for his sake. I'll post after the meeting and then have a very long think about the future, you all help so much, just knowing that I have friends thinking of us makes it easier to bear the burden. Thank you ALL!!! Lyn xxx.0
