Credit Report with Noddle

I keep reading that the credit score means nothing. Having spoken to RCI (Renault / Nissan finance) recently they say that they use the score from Experian. If it's over a certain figure then they say yes, between that and a lower figure then they come back and ask additional affordability questions, look for guarantors, check specific details in the report, etc. and below a certain figure they'll flat out refuse. Only for that middle group do they check the detail. So the score clearly does mean something.
Edit: In case anyone is interested they wouldn't tell me what those scoring thresholds were as it was "commercially sensitive information".0 -
You (and Experian/CallCredit/Equifax) are the only person who sees your credit score from each company, it is for your benefit only, is merely a guide, and they do not give it to anyone else. So unless you obtained your credit score and then provided that number to RCI, something is not quite right.
They obtained the raw data from your credit file, and then based their judgement on that data. Certainly the data from your credit file indicated to them that you were not suitable for finance from them. Each lender will have its own criteria, and they will not divulge what these are.
All you can do is obtain your statutory report from each lender (£2 for Equifax and Experian, free for CallCredit via Noddle) and make sure that that all the information they hold on you is correct, so you are sure any future lender is basing decisions on correct data. Then you can take the time to make yourself as desirable to potential lenders as possible.0 -
I know the credit score is nothing.....but my new monthly updates says i've gone from 1/5 to 3/5 and score is up from 522 to 579.
It's also tells me what is letting me down...
1. Defaulted account
2. Public info (ccj)
These are both due to drop of in next 7 month.
As we said it doesn't mean much, but just feels nice for once and certainly after all these years that it's improved! Night all0 -

Hi Jambo, I don't want to put a downer on anything but I (and my partner) have had a Noddle account (free) for over a year and we regularly see our 'scores' go up and down from 1/5 to 3/5 back down to 2/5 from month to month.
The only thing that changes (up until this month when I got a new CC) was my defaults are getting older. No other changes at all to explain the drops and ups.
Just keep plugging away and you'll get there :-) all the best.0 -
Cheers.....and yeah I know what you mean but this first time ever it has changed. Im doing it all right now and have been for years. It made me smile a little. Cheers0

It's a good feeling isn't it
Mine's just started getting toward the end my 'issues' after 5 - 6 years without a foot being put wrong.
It's a long road lol but any improvement is a benefit.0 -
Anybody know how good/reliable Noddle is?
Just paid £20 for 'Noddle improve' which gives me unlimited access to my credit score for 12 months plus advice on how to make it better. As far as I can see.....I can see my score and the advice is about 5 bullet points worth and common knowledge to anybody trying to rebuild bad credit and has access to google.
Just looking at your actual question I can personally state that I find Noddle the most unreliable of the credit reference agencies. It does not hold anywhere near all of the data that I have is found held on my by Equifax or Experian reports. But that is my personal experience.
Best advice if, as you say in further posts, you are looking to get a mortgage in the near future is to check all of your reports, check that the information held is accurate and query anything that you believe isn't.
But as I say, your initial question 'is Noddle reliable' - I would answer that whilst the information they have on me is 'accurate' it is nowhere near 'complete' compared to other agencies, so I would not rely on just Noddle for a comprehensive report. It would need to be taken alongside information from all agencies. Just pay £2 for your statutory report every six months and make sure you pay your bills on time.0 -
Yeah don't worry I did start with Experian but cancelled after 30 days but that was 3years ago when I had 4 defaults and 1 ccj.
My credit since 2010 minus Pay day loans has been perfect.
I noe have 1 default which goes next month and ccj goes in July 2015.
Its the first time ever I've seen it improve, and I know the scores don't make a difference but it just felt nice for once to think that by next July...I may be there or there abouts.
Fingers crossed I will get a Mortgage despite missed payments over 5 years ago and payday loans over 3 years ago!0 -
I find Noddle completely useless. Credit "score" varies monthly 3/5, to 2/5 back to 3/5 then random 1/5's every so often.
Wholly believe the scores that Noddle give are just a ploy to get you to purchase more things when you see your score fluctuate.
I do have experian membership, but due to my employment I like to keep a very close eye on things. I also don't pay any where near the £15 a month spoken about on here.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
Going to wait till the last adverse mark (ccj) goes in July.
Before i go for mortgage...which is all I want and why Im on this site.
There are still no conclusive answers0
