Credit Report with Noddle

Options
Anybody know how good/reliable Noddle is?
Just paid £20 for 'Noddle improve' which gives me unlimited access to my credit score for 12 months plus advice on how to make it better. As far as I can see.....I can see my score and the advice is about 5 bullet points worth and common knowledge to anybody trying to rebuild bad credit and has access to google.

OP paid for their "improve" service, which is a load of old hog wash.

OP, that's how they make their money, out of people who don't know that it's common sense.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Have you learnt nothing from being a member of this site. What you are paying for can easily be known for free. Just remember keep up to date with your payments, make sure you are on the electoral list and do not over commit yourself.

For seeing what is on your callcredit credit file Noddle is great, as it is free.
As to whether it is reliable, well it is an accurate reflection of what a potential lender would see if they performed a credit search with callcredit on the date the report was generated.

If you are in a position where you will shortly being applying for a mortgage then I would definitely use noddle to see what is on your credit file, and also check your experian and equifax files as well.
I would pay little attention to the score/rating or their interpretation on good and bad points on your credit file.

There is no secret information. There are no tips that you only gain access through paying a credit reference agency.

Nothing noddle tells you will be anything other than the advice available, for free, on this site.

In terms of a mortgage application, if you want advice, speak to a mortgage advisor - there are plenty on this site who will volunteer opinions.

A Credit Reference Agency (CRA - like Callcredit (Noddle)) will provide you with a score. This score means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Let me repeat that: the score is MEANINGLESS. It's based on a very limited set of data about your debt management. It will have very little affect on your mortgage, because if a lender provided you with a mortgage based on nothing but your CRA score, they would likely be sued for gross negligence, you'd have a claim against them for mis-selling, the regulators would have a field day and they'd be bankrupt within a week. Your entire lifestyle will be examnined by a mortgage lender - they will want to see bank statements, evidence of income, outgoings, and will stress test it to see if you could still afford a mortgage at 6-7% base rates rather than the current 0.5%. A credit score might be enough to bar you from a lender, but it won't be enough to pursuade them to lend you any money.

The only thing of any value that CRAs hold is your statutory credit report, which can be had for free with a trial, or is limited to £2 by law. Noddle provides your Callcredit (the other 2 are Experian and Equifax) reference for free, unless you sign up for their "Noddle improve" service, which will give you more or less all the information on this site, except they charge for it.

If you've only lost £20, forget it, move on, and don't do it again. If you're signed up to a monthly rolling subscription, you need to cancel it immediately.

Thank you good info there guys!!

And yes I am a fool for paying £20...maybe the 20 quid is not important it was more to see how reliable Noddle is.

Here is my situation for anybody that can help ....

In 2007 I was 20 year old and working as a self employed Joiner.

By October 08 I felt the reccession most and could not find work.
Problem being at time I had a car on finance and multiple store cards from when I was 18. In the October I signed on dole and recieved £190 a month in Jobseekers Allowance. Ironically £190 was exactly what my car finance and insurance was per month.
It was a double edged sword as I needed the car incase work came in but in never did. Luckily I was living with parents now rent free but split up with my partner of a few years and I admit I kinda give up. I found a little work eventually in early 09 and made what payments I could but by this time the damage was done.

So, in August 09 I joined the Army. By this time I had 5 defaults and 1 CCJ. By June 2010 I had paid all debt off in full and all were marked as 'Satisfied'. But this is also around the time somebody advised me to take out a Payday loan. At time all young Soldiers seemed to do it and I was under impression that it would improve my credit score. Some 22 Payday loans later I take out the last one on 01/05/12. Yes I am a Idiot!

I write this now aged nearly 28 now happily married in my married quaters provided by the Army. We are just like everybody else and want to buy our first house. I just can't help feeling like some sort of criminal. And this depresses me.
I have done some research and know that Defauts and CCJ's will fall off my Record after 6 years from the date they were added.
I did sign up with Experian and Equafax a year or so ago but cancelled. I have recently just signed up again with Noddle as some defaults are due to fall off.

And......some of them have. Three of them have gone. One of them is due to go in January 15 and the CCJ in July 15. So that should be me clear on that front. But what remains is them Paydays loans and upto 5 missed Payments from my car finance which I did'nt Default on and that was 5 years ago.

I got a Barclaycard to try and rebuild my score. I also have had a phone contract for 5 years and never missed a payment. I also have ran this house smoothly I never missed any bills for the last 15 months. Yet my score is 522 with Noddle.

I earn £27,000 a year but the wife makes less at £15,500, her credit score is 960. We have a deposit of around £10,000.

    My questions are,

How long will it take for my credit score to improve after the final CCJ is removed?

She can only get a mortgage for £69,000, with this new help to buy scheme will she be able to get a bigger mortgage with the government giving more Equidy?!

If she gets a mortgage by herself will my wage at all play apart in the size of the mortgage?

Does anyone have advice on Mortgage Brokers?

Or any advice on Rent to buy?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and as you can tell i'm not so convident that when my Final CCJ is removed and what feels like the longest 6 years of my life is over that I will be approved. I thankyou in advance for any advice!

As soon as the CCJ has dropped off your file it won't affect any future lending decision by a lender (as they won't know it has existed). Same with defaults, once they have dropped off then a potential lender searching your file won't know they were ever there.

The other questions would probably be best asked on the mortgages section of the forum as there are quite a number of mortgage brokers who post regularly there.

    Thanks again Tixy.....
  • I recently applied for a mortgage no reason to think anything would be wrong my application was denied on the grounds of fraud at a linked address I have since discovered that Call credit provided this information. When I checked my credit file I noticed a default that's not mine, not my name but same surname and my DOB and lots of linked address I have never heard of All this happened in June and still today I am waiting for a conclusion nationwide the bank responsible for putting the incorrect information on are just sorry for any inconvenience caused wow that's an understatement The incorrect information is still on my file up until recently I have had phone calls from credit agencies even a text to my mobile addressed to the person on my credit file where did they get my number from. If you find a default on your credit report treat it as serious and keep complaining until someone listens the credit report agencies won't take it off until it is proved it shouldn't be there
