Faulty dyson dc07

hi there, can anyone advise me about my new hoover.?

Basically ordered it through co-op electrical on wed afternoon. It arrived next morning, brilliant fast delivery which was free, but, on putting thing together the hose or wand or whatever it is called wouldnt slot into the tube so had a look at it and it has a dent in it which is stopping it going in.

Phoned co-op and they said would ring dyson and also send someone to pick up this hoover the next day. eventually he rang back to tell me that dyson will send the replacement wand in 2 to 3 working days, so not really over the moon bout that as i have no hoover. now the 3 working days have passed and no replacement has turned up.

Would i be within my rights to phone co-op and tell them i want a refund and to come and collect it? If i re-order today i will have a new one tommorow morning.

Thanks.
Just to win anything would be great!!

Not sure if they're obliged to give you a refund without a chance to try repair first. Have you tried phoning Dyson yourself? I've found them to be speedy and extremely helpful.

Goods faulty at time of purchase I thought you were entitled to reject and have refund.

thanks i thought that too, just feel let down and fobbed off. dont know wether to ring co-op and tell them to pick up as faulty goods not fit for use as upright. thought part would have come by now and hasnt, really not sure of rights as they have said dyson will send new part.

You're definitely entitled to a refund if the goods were faulty on delivery. May be an idea to take a photo of the hose, just in case they should query anything later, when it's harder to prove.

Hve just sent an e-mail to co-op explaining everything and wanting them to collect and full refund. had enough now, waited on phone for 5 mins in queue.
it would be hard to take photo as you can only really see the indentation when you move the thing round. thanks for advice though and will see if they reply.

I realise that your contract is with the Co-op, sale of goods act and all that.
But as a previous poster has said Dyson after sales is excellent and they should sort you out very quickly, why not give them a call you have nothing to loose.

PS. Pedants corner, the appliance you bought is a vacuum cleaner, hoover is a brand name.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

What if the part turns up tomorrow?

I'd give it a couple more days.

If you need any advice on how to manage without out a vacuum without a week pm me, I'm an expert on that!

It took all my powers of resistance to not state that earlier.

To be even more of a pedant, Hoover has been accepted as a generic term for a vacuum cleaner for a long time and I believe is even listed in the OED as such. ;)
