The 1.6 is a PSA derived motor, and is not exactly loved by the motor trade (by which I mean some dealers and traders literally will not get involved in buying or selling anything fitted with it). They're well known for munching through turbos. They have quite a record for injector problems too, but the major issue is turbo failure, and then subsequent occurrences.
There's a Ford official technical document which suggests a turbo replacement following failure should be accompanied by a sump drop and oil pickup clean, new oil supply pipes, engine flush, replacement supply banjos and various sundry items including, apparently, a new dipstick.
I didn't forget about DMF failure; I just didn't mention it because it's not relevant in a conversation about diesels and low mileage.
And, BTW, I'm not a 'diesel hater'. I drive a diesel, and so does my wife, but collectively we do over 60K miles a year between our two main cars.0 -

Only £500 over the £10k so by the time negotiations have taken place it should be pretty much at the £10k mark.
As to the person that suggested I gave bad advice, that may be true. I dont really profess to knowing a lot (anything) about cars. But it fits criteria in terms of size and mpg...

Oh dear that is very worrying, i didn't find any mention of those issues when googling before i bought it. Fingers crossed i get as lucky as i did with my last Honda diesel that lasted me 6 years with none of the common diesel issues apart from 1 injector that needed replacing at a cost of £500.

Honda Civic.
They do a 1.4 petrol I believe.
Room for 5 adults inside. When i bought mine i compared against the Focus, Golf, Leon, C4, 308, Mazda 3 etc etc, biggest boot out the lot (useful for that buggy!)
Honda come pretty high (or top) in customer satisfaction and reliability charts each year...0
