I had all mine from them and they are superb quality. I got the 600 count

I started getting their bedding in 2006 and just added to them over the years. They wash beautifully and I have never needed to iron them. Good as new and lovely crispy cotton

They fasten with tapes and the end of the duvet tucks in. They will last my lifetime and through the next generation

My favourite ones come from QVC . Their 'Northern Nights' range is excellent but they do have buttons. They aren't cheap but last very well.
I only iron pillowcases these days.

Thanks for that, that's really useful.

What do you mean by the end of the duvet tucks in? Does the bottom end of the duvet cover open completely from side to side (the duvet covers I have at the moment only open in the middle and have about 45cm at either end which doesn't open and just gets torn when I am trying to change the duvet)?
  • what I meant was that there is a sort of envelope section all along the bottom, into which the end of the duvet tucks, so it all looks nice and tidy. Easy to change duvets with these covers

For winter I too use qvc northern nights, the heavier quality flannel. They last about 5 years before they become bobbled but they are very cosy when cold

I would have suggested QVC and northern nights up to about 5 years ago. Since then the quality has dropped and the last two sets I bought bobbled within a couple of washes

Biggest problem we seem to be having at the moment is finding quality (well ones my wife likes always prefers pure cotton) flat sheets and not these horrid "fitted" things.

    Loads on eBay

I used to buy them from Marks and Spencer or John Lewis, but I was looking at the reviews yesterday and they were very mixed.

So, where do you buy decent quality cotton or polycotton duvet covers from which preferably do not need to be ironed and have poppers and not buttons?

    Thanks[/QU

Most of mine have been off eBay or Amazon ... Nearly all 100% cotton. I use the polycotton ones folded over at the bottom of the bed for the cats to lie on (not that they always do).

  • I prefer buttons to poppers as they seem to last longer I bought a set in John Lewis and along with my other two sets will see me out I think. They wern't cheap, but good quality always lasts I have found. On my single spare bed I also have a couple of sets from J/Lewis and the best value of all I have a set of single sheets buy Dorcas that I bought for my eldest daughter in 1968 when she moved from a cot to her single bed they are as good now as then 46 years ago :) mind you the bed was given to me then as well, and had been bought pre-war in 1934 and had been a bed for my friends aunt whose five sons had all slept in it.Its a cast iron frame with wooden headboards and the base is a lattice work of diamond shaped criss cross metal spokes. The matress itself has been changed over the years but the bed is still going strong after 80 years. My eldest DD won't let me get rid of it as she says its the most comfortable bed she's ever slept in.I sometime use it in the summer when its hot as the sun beats into my front bedroom in the evening so the back room is always a bit cooler, and she's right it is very comfy:)
I'm not one to get rid of stuff just because its old as long as its serviceable its stays :):):)

Jackie it sounds like a Vono bed- we have one too. It`s a single and like you said very comfortable. I too like Habitat bedlinen and M & S. Had to replace my bottom sheets as we got new mattresses and the current sheets didn't fit properly.

Charity shop. Age UK sell everything for £1 here. Mind you I haven't had to buy any for ages, all mine seem to last years, I am still using some from 20 years ago. I never iron bedding, and don't fasten up the poppers or buttons. :D
