I used to buy them from Marks and Spencer or John Lewis, but I was looking at the reviews yesterday and they were very mixed.

So, where do you buy decent quality cotton or polycotton duvet covers from which preferably do not need to be ironed and have poppers and not buttons?

Thanks

  • I'm going to watch this thread with interest, because I used to get my bedding from Next or John Lewis but the ranges are not what they used to be.

I love my Next percale covers. Lovely and crisp and still wearing well after 10 years.
  • I used to get mine from Habitat as they wash beautifully. My best advice is NOT to buy from Zara. I have a lovely looking duvet cover from there but it is the mother of all jobs to iron the thing; even with the iron on the hottest setting, it takes nearly an hour to get the wretched bedlinen to look only moderately crumpled. Without ironing, its definitely in the "dragged through a hedge backwards" category. Sorry - never again.

We are lucky to have a fab charity shop in the nearest town to where we live. The duvet covers from there are all nearly brand new, and go for less then a fiver. Seem to be nearly always top makes so I buy when needed from there. To be honest it is years since I bought new, sil usually passes on these she does not want, so i know hers are mostly from Mr M & S. Anything else bedding wish buy in the sales.

  • I love ikea ones, can't comment on ironing though as i don't do any :p
  • I only buy 100% cotton bedding. The best duvet set I ever had came from Primark. Washed beautifully and although it did need ironing it was quite an easy job.

I've recently bought a set from Wilkinsons which seems to be ok.
The set from TK MAXX needs hardly any ironing.

We bought a brushed cotton one from BHS, which is lovely and soft.
I don't particularly go for stores or brands though, I pick based on design from anywhere.

Most of mine are from TK Maxx but I have got a few Ikea ones. It's just a matter of luck of the draw if they've got poppers or buttons. I actually like two I have from Ikea: one has nothing on the bottom and the other has ties.

Thanks for the heads up on Primark.

I only iron the ones in my spare room (doing a Hyacinth Bucket for guests:o). The rest just get folded. After one night on the bed they don't look any different.

Apologies if this is too obvious,:o but have you tried ironing them damp?
