O/S Daily Tuesday 11th November 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, but looks damp underfoot but quite windy.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, was all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight we will be using up the LO pork, I have some pickled red cabbage that DH really likes with cold meat, so I’m thinking I will do some hot potatoes, side salad and I do have carrots and white cabbage so could make some coleslaw too.

Yesterday at work was fine, I still have mountains of emails to get through and this was with just deleting one’s that were obviously of no interest. Working at the other office today but still only for 3 hours so just until lunchtime. Will be visiting the motorcycle shop when I’m done, we want to see if they will buy DS1’s bike back from him, if not it could be a bit of a nightmare to get rid of, and we paid a lot of money for it, so ideally want something back.

Heating engineers had been by the time I got home, boiler serviced and new part fitted so we have a warm house and hot water – now just need to wait for the bill!

Did a few jobs when I got back from work yesterday and obviously did a bit too much as foot swelled up and I finished up having to sit with it elevated during the evening – obviously it’s going to be a long job but have found a different pair of slippers that are a different design and much looser across my foot, it’s much more comfortable this morning and swelling has gone down but it is still a bit swollen. Doctor did say this could happen – will see how it goes over the next 4 weeks if it’s still really bad I’ll go back to see him.

Sorted out the last bits for DS1’s car last night, everything is now done, insured and taxed, so he should be going to collect it tonight – I feel so much happier that we’re going in to winter with him in a car than on his motorbike.

Take care x

Keep safe and well x

nmlc x

Morning everyone.

Good to hear that your first day back wasn't too stressful nmlc - it's a nightmare coming back to mountains of email! At least you could rest up in the evening and not worry.

Still dark outside with a little drizzle which means that there is no frost. Was so cold last night I had a little hot water bottle in the bed!

Had a banana for breakfast and got soup for lunch. No idea about evening meal.

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Don't overdo it nmlc, or you, JackieO!
Fish fed, breakfast eaten, hubby dropped at work, I'll go back in a while.
We have a big Remembrance assembly today, I can't go, I can't cope with it, far too many losses. I'll remember on my own.
I had a very disturbed night last night, a friend of hubby's turned up & we sat in the kitchen chatting, y the time he left my ankles were very swollen, so all night I was up & down to the toilet!
Pork chops for hubby for tea, I'll have chicken, I went into the little Tesco near where I live to buy tea bags & they had a chicken reduced to £1, so I bought it, cooked it & we have chicken sarnies for lunch today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all

Bit milder here today I think we are due rain later and the rest of this week.

Mum had her kneecap replaced yesterday, they did not use a general but a spine jab and a sedative, she was awake through the whole thing ! amazing what they can do, I shall go and see her tomorrow on my day off.

Off to work today where I shall try and get the clients to do the two minute slience but its not always easy, one of them normally blurts out something !

Pizza for dinner with salad and garlic bread.

I did a lot of xmas shopping online last night, in fact I got most of the Birthdays done ( we have a load in November) will do a bit more tonight, need to pop to MrT today as they have a ltr bottle of Bacardi on offer for £15 which will do for my BIL birthday.

Right better get on have good days all xx

I love that the partridge visits and now think of him as my pet. I've named him Pete :D

Just after I posted about fleeces yesterday, I remembered I had one that was too small. So I went searching and found it in the drawer under the bed. Our old bed didn't have drawers and I suppose I'd got used to that because I forget we now have them :D I also found three jumpers that were a bit tight last year, I tried them on and they all fit :D They smelt a bit stale so I washed and dried them yesterday. I'm going to work in a bit and I'll be toasty warm :D

Hopefully I'll only be in for a couple of hours today, I'm still not sleeping properly and can't really be bothered to do anything at the moment :o

Morning all,
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. My wet room is finally finished!:T
It is so good. I can have a shower without being worried about falling, I have a lovely seat in it!:rotfl:

OH is nearly finished in the kitchen, and I am trying to get the sitting room done now.

Done all my Christmas shopping now, (feeling smug!) :)

Lovely morning this morning, we had a beautiful sunrise here in Hastings.

Hope people are okay. NMLC, take it easy.

Have a good day guys. :A

Morning all!

Another working from home day - just as well as had to sleep in the armchair as dog was whining all night. He had an op on Thursday (and an emergency vet visit on Sunday when he managed to remove his stitches in the 10 minutes I was in the shower!) so think that's bothering him. He just wants company when he's under the weather.

Got a few things I have to do then might have a nap for an hour. Very busy rest of week with meetings at different ends of the country .
Hope everyone is well and has a good day. x
• Had one of those nights when I was awake every hour :(
So I got up, did a couple of loads of washing and it is all on the line blowing away, it is grey but dry ifykwim, but I will keep an eye out in case it starts raining.

Other than that not much doing today apart from ordering the last of my Christmas presents online (I will get MIL's when we go over to the nursery at the weekend) And then I am more or less done including most of the food, I will go over to the freezer trade shop at the beginning of December, if I can run my freezers down enough that is  Just one more payday to go before Christmas and that is just scary

Hilly lovely to see you back and so happy that you have your shiny new wet room x

Molly are you ok?

(((((Hugs))))) to all the poorlies and anyone who needs one x

BFN x

Morning all!
Had a productive morning so far, went out for a walk at 8.30, came back and made coffee for me and DH who is working from home today. Soaked fruit for a tea bread, hoovered stairs, landing and our bedroom, cleaned the wood burner and washed the mud off a pair of DS's boots. He really should do his own boots but they were in my way! Two loads of washing done too.

Off to put the tea bread in the oven and make some lunch. Might do some crochet this afternoon, and choir tonight. Very mild here but might rain later.
