Just a word of warning Ref: Auto Aid, I took this policy up based on the MSE recommendations a couple of weeks ago. We are not married and when we received our policy documents only had one surname applied to us both. I have spoken with Auto Aid who agree their policy does not cover unmarried couples living at the same postal address. I stipulated that this is not in their T & Cs, chap went away and tried waffling that it is covered, but couldn't state where. My point here is that firstly we have been discriminated against because he agreed that the policy covers both married couples and civil partners but shows no exclusions for common law partners/siblings etc, and therefore our policy is invalid. Please be aware that this policy only covers as stated above. For me it was a full refund after a bit of a battle but made me even more aware that cheapest isn't always best.

On the bottom of their home page :
"Cover applies to you and your legal spouse or civil partner as shown in the schedule"

It isn't in their T & Cs. We are all reminded to check T & Cs and they could not find it. My point is this deal isn't as sweet as it looks

Depends what you mean by T&Cs I suppose. It's pretty clear on their FAQ page :

    2. Does my breakdown insurance with
    AutoAid cover my spouse/partner?

AutoAid Breakdown covers you and your legal spouse with total breakdown cover, which includes, roadside assistance, a vehicle recovery service to one place of your choice, home breakdowns, emergency travel or overnight hotel accommodation and an attached caravan or small trailer.

However, if you are not legally married or in a civil partnership (same sex marriage), we are unable to cover a common-law partner under the same policy. If your partner would like to become an AutoAid Breakdown member, a separate breakdown policy would be needed.

Legal spouse would surely cover half of adult relationships. How many people in this day and age are actually married but have been together half of their life........ That could be interpreted as Legal??? spouse. It also begs to question the discrimination law.
