I am travelling to USA and Canada soon for a three week holiday. I have a Halifax clarity card for spending but also need cash (approximately $1300 in Canadian dollars). Which is the cheapest way/place for me to obtain this cash?

There's more merit to the ATM suggestion.greenjayne wrote: »Lol. Thanks littlereddevil. Good idea.0 -

Agree. Not because you'll necessarily get a better rate (though you might on a Clarity card), but I prefer to be carrying large amounts of cash for as short a time as possible.0 -
I would use your Halifax clarity. If you look to the right of this page you should see the Cheap Travel Money logo, if you go into that site and do a comparison you will see that the card gives a better rate, yes you will have interest to pay on it and I am assuming you have the same low interest rate that I have.0

You might, but the OP asked for the cheapest way.littlereddevil wrote: »If it were me I would take English notes with me and change them over there
This would not be it
OP, use your Clarity card to withdraw from an ATM. The minimal amount of interest you'll be charged will be more than offset by the superior exchange rate you'll receiveEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -

Load your Clarity card with the amount of cash you originally thought of taking with you, thus avoiding any interest charges.
