Time for new tyres!
Hi all
having just had a tyre released turns out all 4 tyres are around 3mm tread so need to look at changing them
tyre size 225 70 R16 on a 4x4 (suzuki grand vitara) only 7 choices on black circles, fully fitted for all 4 between £380 and £450
However my choice is summer or all weather tyres? what woudl the panel suggest?
Also is it cheaper/more cost effective to buy 4 tyres from ebay etc and get them fitted seperately?
many thanks for any input

I contacted black circles and got a quote but when I had them fitted the garage who fitted them on black circles behalf said he would undercut if I came to him directly next time.
Might be worth a little snooping what garage they're using, they may do you a bit of a deal.0 -
If you are a Costco member, their tyre offer is currently active. £50 off four Michelin Tyres

I would definitely recommend All Season tyres. A few years ago when we had a spell of heavy snow over the Xmas period, I had major problems getting stuck in my street on Summer tyres. Also, the traction control would flash like mad as the car struggled to get a proper grip on the slushy main roads. Changed to All Seasons and it was like night and day in the way the car drove in the slippery conditions.
I noticed a big difference in the wet as well, with the All Seasons providing much more confidence on greasy roundabouts and through standing water.
Some say that All Seasons wear quicker, but I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever in tread wear from Summer tyres.
Yeah, they might have slightly less grip during the warmer weather, but if you are not driving a performance car or like an idiot, then the overall peace of mind All Seasons give you is well worth it.
I haven't used Summer tyres for 3 years now.
Believe me, when the weather drops below 7 degrees, you will be thankful for the change

I only do 6000 miles a year so maybe the wear issue only becomes relevant the more miles you do?
As i am changing all 4 all season is looking more likely0 -

My local garage charges £7.50 per tyre to fit and balance your own supplied tyres.
If you were to go for four of these on eBay, then I suppose you could save a few quid than going to the likes of Kwik-s**t or Blackcircles

All seasons are the way to go.
If you buy from ebay, ask the seller to tell you the date code before you buy.0 -

Fitting company gets just £3 per tyre from Blackcircles. No element of profit from the tyres. Its why my local Blackcircles centre recently stopped doing the service.0 -

One of mine has too. The other push the free tracking check like it's going out of style. I wonder how many never need adjustment0 -
I may ring up my normal garage, ask for 4 all weather tyres and tell them i want to pay around £380 and see what they say0

Don't tell them what you want to pay before they've quoted you as they may surprise you.
I put winter tyres on my SLK four years ago, it was basically undriveable in snow even without hills.
Winter tyres were a revelation, Once fitted I never got stuck once, in fact it was like driving a 4x4.
I'll never do another winter without them. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
