Find the local tyre places that the taxi drivers use. Small independant ones. I have one a few miles away, They are cheaper than the online tyre places.

Recently i found one slightly closer who charge the same prices.

Dont phone and give them a price you want to pay because amazingly thats how much the tyres will cost.
Even if they are cheap ones they normally sell for less.

I may ring up my normal garage, ask for 4 all weather tyres and tell them i want to pay around £380 and see what they say

Contis or Dunlop at £80ish each, plus £30-£40 for fitting. Job done.

  • Another vote for All Season - Kleber Quadraxer being the ones I have been extremely happy with.

Go for Kumhos or Hancocks, budget tyres are the best. No point in spending extra on these branded tyres unless you have a nonsense car like the Ferrari

i like the look of the continental @ £332 plus £12 shipping, add in £45 for fitting works out at under £400

Bit cheaper here but listed as summer tyres even though they have M&S markings.

Mytyres list them as All-Season, but I'm not entirely certain what they come under.

The point of my comment is based on several years of personal experience, knowing exactly how my car handled on new decent brand tyres (Goodyear, original fit Dunlop amongst others) and the Kleber. The Kleber made a significant difference to the car. Done about 30k miles on them, 110k miles on other brands.

There may be other brands that can do the same job at less price, but I don't have the personal experience so could not recommend them.

What is your experience on driving these budget brands of tyres - what sort of mileage have you done on them and how have you compared them against new standard tyres?

This is the same guy suggesting everyone buys an M3 a few weeks ago, so I don't think his advice is worth following.

OP - definitely look at midrange all season tyres, or if you have the space and upfront cash, at a set of winters and a set of summers and swap them out.
