I paid something like £2.99 from carphonewarehouse (plus £10 top-up with 02 which is still going strong and has credit still on it 10 months after I bought it) for my dinky little Samsung flip-phone - it doesn't have extra ringtones, it doesn't connect to the internet, nowt fancy about it, but its cute and i've used it abroad with the 02 credit no problem at all
. As its from carphonewarehouse, its unlocked too.
eta - if you've been a carphonewarehouse customer before, you might be able to get the handset upgrade price, rather than the new sim handset price - I qualify as I have bought handsets with sims there in the past (although the most recent one was about 4 years ago).0 -
nice one
just what I was looking for, thanks very much

Searching for a couple of minutes, this one here is £10 with a £5 minimum top up, so it is cheaper.
Alternatively unlock it and get an even cheaper i.e. £2 top up.
i see where you're going in that as a total with the handset and the top up, its cheaper initial outlay - but if the OP wants a top-up and will use it eventually, the phone is actually cheaper if its 99p compared to £10 for the handset.0 -
CPW PAYG upgrades (no topup needed) is the cheapest place to look if you (or a friend) qualify. With TCB/quidco you'll get paid for getting a cheap handset. And it'll be unlocked.0

I bought a Nokia 106 from Asda 2 weeks ago for £5 and it included a £1 EE sim card in the box. It's locked to EE. They also had an Alcatel for £4, also locked to EE, but I don't know whether it came with the sim.0
