  • Lets see if I can help you.

    Answer the following questions:

    1. What type of Halifax Creditcard do you have?
    2. What was the payment due date on your statement?
    3. What was the minimum payment?
    4. How did you do the transfer from your bank? Was it through your online bank account?

    Regards

Hi there thankyou for the reply.
Halifax All in one 0% for 19 months.
14th of last month, I payed a few days before.
    minimum payment was £18.00
yes I did a bank transfer using there account number and sort code and my card number as a reference as instructed to do so by the lady on the phone.

As you can see by the date of the payment I thought everything was fine and have not been notified otherwise either by natwest or halifax

You don't need an authorisation code to pay your Halifax statement.

Perhaps you need one to set up online billing, however I think you can only pay your Halifax credit card statement from a Halifax bank account in their eco system. That's how it is with my account, but I also have a Halifax bank account anyway. Maybe it's different if you don't.

Any idea why your payment was rejected? Who rejected it?; your bank or Halifax credit card? Was the sort code, bank account number and sixteen digit reference number correct?

Credit card companies are usually quite lenient with first time offenders; and this appears to be a genuine mistake or perhaps a technical error. It's likely they will reinstate your 0% deal. If not, complain. :rotfl:

Are you sure you sent the payment - as in did you click through all the screens? It would usually flag up as part of that process if the payment is declined.

Sorry but I need to know the exact date you made payment from your bank?! The reason being most online banking is done by faster payment service which is available 24 hrs a day 7 days a week however some organisations only process payments sent to them on weekdays only, despite being sent on the weekend.

Also in some cases the cleared money can be available to the receiving bank within 2 hours, but it can sometimes take up to close of business the next working day before it is posted on to the account.
  • Contact them tomorrow and ask them if they would waive it as a gesture of goodwill, explain your situation.

Once that's done, set up a direct debit for the minimum payment, then you wouldn't have had this problem.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

  • Hi everyone .. they admitted that it was a technical error and before I even asked offered to cancel the charges and reinstate the 0% so I was worried about nothing ... thanks for your help!
