Hi all I wonder if you could help me, I was recently accepted for the Halifax 0% for 18 months credit card with a limit of £2000. I spent close to the limit.
The payment date arrived and Halifax had not sent me an activation code to enable me to pay online so I called them up and was advised to make the payment from my bank account and was given there account number and sort code to make the transfer, the payment seemed to go through but upon checking my Halifax statement I have noticed that I have received a late payment charge of £12 and an over limit charge of £12 ( the late payment charge sent the balance over the limit) and also my 0% has gone! after checking my bank statement it seems the payment was refused even though there was more then enough funds in the account to cover it.
I am now panicking as the minimum payment has sky rocketed from an affordable £18 a month to £65 a month with interest added on each month, my original plan was to pay the interest free minimum and then chunk it off as and when I had spare cash after working this out I would have cleared the debt before the 18 month 0% period,
What can I do now?? If I call them will they re instate the 0% period as it was there fault for not sending me an activation code and refusing my payment? Any Advise welcome
:(
Thanks.

What activation code?
Ways to pay your Halifax credit card bill are detailed here:-

Have you spoke to your bank to find out why the payment was declined? This seems to be their fault, not Halifax's, so you would be asking for goodwill from HX to reinstate the offer.0

Hi thanks for the reply, I am going to my bank tomorrow before calling Halifax, do you think they will re-instate the offer? I have proof that the payment was made on time on my statement?0 -
Did you include a reference, ie the 16 digit card number, with your payment instruction?0

This just seems really unfair as I have made a real effort to pay on time and have proof of that but still I am being penalized for something that was out of my control, this could potentially ruin my life and my credit rating.0

Lets see if I can help you.
Answer the following questions:
1. What type of Halifax Creditcard do you have?
2. What was the payment due date on your statement?
3. What was the minimum payment?
4. How did you do the transfer from your bank? Was it through your online bank account?
