Temporary building in garden to live in ?

I dont want to go into too much detail but we are moving my 92 yr old mum in with us. We have enough room in the garden for a lodge or something similar. We want somewhere to stay for my Mum while we renovate our house for both our needs. Again for reasons I dont want to go into she will need to be near us and not in a hotel etc..
We looked at a static caravan but quite a lot of people said they get damp and cold and are not suitable for her.
I had a look around on the web and I see a number of companies selling double glazed small lodges for around£5-10k.
I just wondered if anybody had any other ideas. She could probably live with us sometime during the day but the rest of the time she would stay in this accommodation and sleep there.
It would not have to be permanent as accommodation , probably about 2 months. After that we could use it as a den for the kids etc
Thanks

You might fall foul of the planning permission requirements if its habitable and being used for living/sleeping in.0

We have a 2 bed log cabin in our garden. A nosey neighbour called the planning office when she saw it being built. A bloke came to see us from planning and told us that it didn't need planning permission (we already knew that as we'd done our homework before we built it) but that it wouldn't be possible for anyone to live in it as that would breach the planning regulations.
My kids have used it for occasional sleepovers though. Many times.0 -
Thanks meer53
Am I way out in terms of budget ?
Any recommendations ?0 -

Depending on where you are in the country, it might be cheaper to rent somewhere else (i.e. a whole house) for six months, and then have all of you move into that property while your house is being sorted out.0

That would be ideal I know but a) we have a 16st dog who is a guard dog so it would be difficult and b) at 92 my mum is coping with the move but to move twice would just be too much for her..
Thanks anyway0 -

LOL
Its a long story and yes your are right..if a posh shed is just too basic its a no no.. thats why I am hoping just maybe someone thinks of an alternative mobile accommodation..but maybes its just not possible !0 -
