I hate it when they open a new till and the last person in the queue is called over. Surely it should be the person who has waited the longest?
  • Reminds me of people who use pick and mix and eat it whilst wondering around doing the rest of there shopping surely that's theft?

I remember some people when I was in high school some others got banned for a year from Asda for eating pick and mix. They don't have pick and mix in any supermarkets near me now as far as I know.

That happened to me in aldi on Wednesday. I missed being at the front of the queue by 2 seconds and these people with a big trolley went in front. And then 2 trolley queued behind me and they got to go to the new till first! I only had butter and teabags!

This has probably been said before but charity collectors/bag packers on tills at weekends. Usually some sort of sports club. Before you all start calling me a scrooge...

    1. I admit that I'm anal. I unload my goods onto the conveyor belt from the trolley in a certain order to make packing easier. I pack everything in a certain way to cause minimal damage to delicate foods etc. Most charity packers (usually kids end up throwing things in / overstuffing bags etc etc). Nevertheless theres the feelign of obligation to donate whilst knowling that I'll be rearranging things in the car! (or declining their help but donating anyway).

    2. More importantly, I always pay by debit card at the supermarket. Half the time I only take my card (and a backup card in case of any problems) and leave my wallet at home. I almost never have spare change to donate. They then just wait there at the end of the till and I feel bad packing, paying and leaving.

I'll always look around for a till with no helpers. Sometimes one will magically appear just before my turn which I hate. Once when I was in a particularly bad mood, I walked out of a store when I saw that they had charity packers on every till (yes, I'm slightly ashamed at this!).

Please tell me I'm not alone!!

Besuited prowlers roaming the store, trying to get shoppers to sign up for the store's credit card, ought to be rounded-up and shipped off the island as well. I've had one or two who make it seem as if it's a new loyalty card they're plugging - until out comes the paperwork and I spot the card symbols.

I'm already spending my nutrition shilling in the store! Grrr!!! ;)

Are you me ? :rotfl: When I used to shop on a Saturday morning at Sainsburys they were there every week , if you got through the checkouts before 10 am you could avoid them but I used to happily stand in a longer queue that didn't have one there .
I once had to grab my shopping off a man doing this in order to rescue yogurt pots being crushed under pop and milk bottles and another time when I politely declined I had two teenage girls just hanging over my shopping making it awkward for me to get at my stuff to pack - I shop at Lidl now and you get bothered by nothing like that :j

In my case that is because I am having to use the trolley instead of my crutches!
    Must use my stash up!

Not being able to buy potatoes individually (unless they're massive sputnik baking potatoes or tiny marbles like new potatoes).
I just want to buy 4 or 5 normal sized potatoes without having to spend £2 odd on some massive 2.5kg bag of them. Is that so difficult?

But can't you check out the back?" believe me if I hadn't already checked 3 times in the last 30 minutes for 3 other customers I'd check again. Often I did anyway, it was easier than arguing.

That is what I used to do when I said there were none and they said can't you check out the back.

I went through the back and had a natter with whoever was there checking through the back for another customer asking about the same thing,
over 73 but not over the hill.
