hello!

what is the best usenet deal for either block of data (lowest $ per gigabyte) and what is the best monthly account?
I don't think I will download more than 50GB per month or maybe less

I don't think Sky has a news server.

You'll need a subscription to something like Giganews, there are plenty out there.

There even used to be a few free ones, as long as you don't want the binary groups, but I'm way out of touch as I use the news server provided by BT as part of my internet package.

I think just about all ISPs have dropped their usenet servers as uneconomical.

I use Astraweb, and have no complaints. I don't have a monthly plan, instead I buy a block amount as I'm an intermittant user, and it lasts me ages. 120Gb for $25, that's about £15 (I think).

    So, I'd recommend them.

120Gb for $25 is very expensive as others have offered 1 TB for $50
I am looking for the best offer

Did you even look at Astraweb's website? They offer 1TB for $50 too. And its 180GB for $25, not 120GB. So if you use less than 50GB/month, then go with the 1TB package. It will last you at least 20 month, which makes it $2.50/month or less with your usage. How much cheaper do you think you will get it?

Keep an eye on blog.newsgroupdirect.com. They do regular monthly special offers with 1.1TB at $35 or 2.2TB for $60. That's better than 2 year's worth at my rate of use.

Doesn't surprise me, as a service it isn't as widely used as it was. I only access three groups on a regular basis, a couple of Linux groups and a Raspberrypi group.

I can live without them, there are plenty of forums, like this one, that I can use.
