It was put in shortly after I had the porch fitted because it became apparent that some ventilation was necessary because it gets very hot in the summer and I later found it useful for small parcel/packet deliveries. I mentioned it because you might be able to construct something similar with your garage. Maybe put in some form of lockable opening so it can be secured with a chute or panel behind so no one can use it to look into your garage. Then a postie could open it and drop small parcels/packages down. Maybe put a step if necessary so that they can reach.
Thieves will use any opportunity they can get so preventing anyone using it to look into your garage for potential things to thieve is worth protecting against IMO.
Yes, I detailed my thoughts and the solutions in the first post, the catflap with a back screen and a cage out of arms length below was my original proposal.
So, if no one can see a flaw in that for about £8-10 I can sort it, thanks for the help all.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Old Galv water tank, cut out a door, hinge it and fit a nightlatch. Leave door open when you're expecting a parcel.
leave Mr jobsworth instructions to leave parcel in side and pull door closed, locking parcel safely away for you to unlock later.

Well, I like your thinking but having a rusty water tank on the drive might not appeal to 'er indoors,
No one has given a good reason not to go with my original thoughts, (just wondered if I'd missed an obvious issue), so I think I'll go with that.
Long gone are the days when postie lived in the village and would leave your post with your mate and vicy virky.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Only downside of a catflap is you're limiting your max size of parcel.... unless you specify everything is to be packaged in 6" tubes

Postie can't fit mail in letter box, how does that make him a jobsworth?0 -

Russ, the 1's I've looked at are a little larger than that, I'm sure it will suffice, my problem is as I said, if I order a box of screws or something in a jiffy bag that's more than about 35mm thick.
Might only be worth a fiver but it costs me that to go get it.
The plan is to talk to all the posties, we get 3 or 4 different a week.
If their brief allows them to go with dropping a package into a locked garage through a flap, (no different to a box that can actually be pried off a wall quite easily), then I'll go with that.
I'll get a cut plastic notice to attach to the side door, garage is 4 paces away.
Cheers allI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
