    Car Insurance Carver!
    Hello all!

I did start posting with you all a while back but with moving house and loosing the internet for a short while I got a bit lost! Since coming back I have started the MFW journey and have been focusing on getting my footing there, now I feel I have I fancied getting back on track with all money stuff, so here I am!

Yesterday I bought 9 rolls of 3metre christmas paper for £3! All different and lovely, bargain!

Got washing on the line today, will help with the tumble wumble cost!

Wrote a shopping list and stuck to it today, £41 for the weeks shopping, about time we tried to manage this as it was creeping up even at a!di!

Food plan for the week written!

Tilly Tidy completed and £10moved across as I am trying No booze November so this would be money that would normally go on booze!

Feels good to be back on track!

    Happy sunday everyone!

    Jodles :D

    Afternoon Frugal Friends,
Today's little bits of money saving:
*Did a cheap overnight wash on Economy 7.
*Pegged it all outside on the line. It's not properly dry but has made a start & will finish off on heated airer.
    *Read energy meters.
*Mr f popped into town to get the memory stick of photos I sorted out yesterday printed. He saved car parking fee by parking on Waitrose carpark & walking in, then another £5 by having the 1 hour instead of instant photo service.
*Divided up & froze the braised red cabbage I made in the slow cooker yesterday. It made 10 portions.
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Knitted loads of sock.
*Sorted out a slightly dodgy budget.
Still got lots of catching up jobs to do since our holiday & we were only away for a week! Planning a productive & organised week, so will aim to post every day to keep focussed. Also aiming to have a very focussed 6 weeks of calorie counting as my jeans are tightening & I'm not, NOT, N-O-T putting all the weight I've lost back on again! So having busy 'to do' lists this coming week will help keep my mind off the Evil that is Biscuits!
Let's all gear ourselves up for a great week,

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

On the 'paying for a wee' theme which I inadvertently started yesterday, this was my worst rip-off example: Some years ago, Mr f & I house sat my sister's house which meant we got free accommodation in London. We took the tube into the city centre & I was suddenly dying for a wee to the extent that I got off the tube & not seeing any obvious alternatives, headed for the loo in.......Harrods. I was met by an exceedingly Snotty Woman guarding the door who held up her arm to prevent my entry. The interrogation ran thus:
SW- Are you able to show me receipts from Harrods totalling a minimum of £100 purchases today?
    Me- No.
SW- Are you able to show me a receipt proving that you have purchased food & beverages in our restaurant today?
    Me- No.
SW- Then you must pay the charge of £1.50 to enter.
Well, I was so desperate by then, I paid it, but I made sure to use as much of their soap, hand lotion, perfume etc, as I could before coming out again! I understand that they may get tourists trailing in just to use their facilities, but this policy seemed to me to alienate people who may have needed to pop to the loo before doing their shopping. We certainly didn't bother to stop for a coffee or browse after that.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Blimey £1.50 for a tinkle. That's ridiculous. Yes it's rubbish that there are so few bathrooms in London that are really public toilets.

worked 2 x 12hr shifts in a bid to attempt to stop me spending cash while the other half is away. unfortuantely it failed as a 12 pack of bud magically appeared in my kitchen and my wallet was a tenner lighter. technically Sunday is still a NSD :D
  • My update for today:

Need to make a meal plan/shopping list for the next week, I will use as much as I can that I've already got in, as I've got to be very careful for the next couple of weeks. Done and managed to work in quite a few things from the store cupboard
Myself and DD will go to the Rememberance Service (OH will be getting on with decorating, so can't come with us) Done - was a lovely service
The service is at a local park, so weather permitting, we'll stay and play for a little while and take some of the old bread in case we can feed any birds. Done - weather stayed dried, so both managed some time on the play park and then feed the ducks
On the way home we'll get the shopping, so it won't be a NSD Done and it was way under what I'd hope for
I need to get some more items listed on eb@y while I've got some free listings. Done - another 6 items listed
Try to limit the heating being on Done - on for less than 2 hours all day
I may count up my sealed pot. It's a little earlier than the planned opening day (27/11), but I'm going to use the money towards decorating, so will need it before this date anyway. I'm very excited to find out the total. Done - just shy of £170, this should buy the wood flooring for the hallway

    Also done today:
Made a batch of carrot and lentil soup, chucked in some other bits of veg which needed using up too. This will be for my lunches.
Sold 3 items on eb@y, one at a lot more than I'd hoped for
    Checked BB and PCL
Unsubscribed from a few more emails
Got diesel for the car at Asd@ on my way past, as it's the cheapest around
OH is still decorating - he started at 9am this morning and Sunday is his only day off. He's started the proper wallpaper today, so it's really starting to take shape now. Hopefully, papering will be finished by the end of the week :)

Totally shattered now (watching OH all day has taken it out of me!)

    See you all tomorrow.
