When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money::money:

            Hi All
Thanks Ziggy & DNM. It was a lovely birthday. Ziggy - sorry to hear about your boiler issues. Where are you on that?
DNM - have a lovely day out with your little one.
 Hello Bagpuss
Today so far. Have taken my son to the building society to pay in his birthday money recieved so far (he turns 6 on thursday)
Found 6p the amount of people that seemingly through 5ps away is ridiculous. Will be using that later towards cat food. Which I also have a 75p off coupon for on a £2 pack.
Went into Waitrose for free coffee.
 Packed lunch for today.
Re gifted a present for a party son is going to today. He is also being fed there so won't need dinner.
Took a sainsburys voucher that I found in to claim the points.
 Heating off.
Walked everywhere so far today to save bus fare.
sold a spiderman mask for £6 on ebay & transferred the funds to my bank account.
 Think that's it so far.
 Have a lovely day all.

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great start to the weekend?
Well thankfully OH and FIL managed to sort boiler out last night (took until 10pm) so we have heating and hot water again. So, now it's my choice that the heating isn't on!
Quick list, as DD is getting already putting coat on to walk to library:
All meals from stores - lunch was pasta with use it up from the fridge items (last of the mushrooms, some leftover pizza topping sauce, last of the olives and some pepperoni) iwas really nice! Dinner is chilli (made yesterday) and I think I'll do jacket potatoes with it tonight.
Have put kitchen, bathroom and DD's room back in order after they've all been turned upside down when the boiler and radiators were being sorted last night.
3 loads of washing done, one at 30 degrees and all on quick wash cycle.
 Walked to DD's swimming lesson
Eb@y item sold has been collected
Baked some mini apple cupcakes with DD
Heading out to library, going to walk, despite the weather
No heating on until now but I can feel the cold, so I think I'll be giving in for an hour once we're back
 Ironing mountain to tackle later
 Hoping for a NSD
Well that might not be it, but DD is all ready to go and I'm not, so I'd better leave it for now!SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89

Today I've done a major overhaul of all my current and savings accounts to make sure every account is "fit for purpose" and all the accounts actually "do something useful" e.g. paying bills, future bills piggybanking, contingency savings, small long-term savings, small "treats" savings and an emergency savings account.

            Hello
 For me today:
 So far:
Withdrew some money from paypal (ebay sales of some smart clothing items I used to have to wear for work) as the lady has now left feedback. I also had a lovely email from her saying how delighted she was with the coat she had bought
Heating on only in the bathroom, airing cupboard and top guest bedroom (as my brother is staying for the weekend and it gets freezing up there ) and on timer.
Quick tidy round and hoovered up doghairs - I THINK there are getting fewer of them. It is a wonder the dog isn't bald
Cleaned out fridge as it didn't have much in it apart from jars of condiments etc
Shopping at Mr S with a list that I MOSTLY stuck to. Used a £3 off voucher that OH had in his wallet, and a double points one that I had in mine. Treated small GDs to advent calendars Also found a really nice plain white duvet cover and pillowcase set, with pretty pintucks, old stock reduced to clear for £16. Now do I need another bed set - hmmm possibly not, but it is a cheap way to give our bedroom a makeover Also found a really nice plain white duvet cover and pillowcase set, with pretty pintucks, old stock reduced to clear for £16. Now do I need another bed set - hmmm possibly not, but it is a cheap way to give our bedroom a makeover
Found a £1 coin the the SM car park. I hardly ever find any money, and if I do it is 1p. As it was pouring with rain at the time, there was nobody much around to see me pick it up either
Received a cheque from the business client who hadn't paid OH, so it was worth me sending the repeat invoice. Apparently they had lost both our address and the bank details they used to use for direct transfer. I was slightly surprised to get it as it is a business he no longer deals with. Perhaps I was being too cynical
 Still to do:
Make bolognese for supper, from mince from freezer and veg from last week that needs using up.
Chickens need cleaning out but it is pouring down with rain again. OH says it should clear up tomorrow, so hopefully I will be able to do it then.
 Walk dog
 Light woodburner a bit later
 Happy weekend everybody 0 0

When contacting the plumber, ask for his Gas Safe registration details and have a word with your local Trading Standards office this might make him a bit more "co-operative" this might make him a bit more "co-operative" DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499 DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

I found a £1 when plumping up the sofa. I've also used value brands for cereals, bread, rice, pasta etc. Bought wash powder on offer from Wilkos...half the price of other supermarket.
Used Boots vouchers to stock up on useful toiletries rather than luxuries.Feb 2014 to now
Unsecured debt at highest £56,511/now £9,328 83% paid.
 Mortgage £85,342/now £28,846 66% paid

Hi GettingOrganised - Glad your heating is sorted. As you say choice is everything.
Chris blue - what a good idea, & love your saying too.
Dawn - Glad you got that cheque. And you are dead right to be cynical. Being proven wrong is better than being taken for a ride.
Well I came home to a cheque for £32 that was one I'd had the name amended on, so I can now pay that in. Horray!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
