LLOYDS TSB BACS derails my big purchase.....

Hi,

I am a self employed contractor (Consultant) was awaiting to be paid my invoice today as per usual, check to see if payment received, nothing, email company and receive apology, followed by a group wide email to all Contractors. See below.....I'm just annoyed as I was hoping to make a huge purchase tomorrow and now I have to wait for an unspecified time....they say two days, I hope it means just that! I logged onto MSE was planning on asking if anyone has experience of this, but then "how long is a piece of string" springs to mind.........MOAN OVER!!:mad:

"........This is to inform you that Lloyds banking group are currently experiencing issues with their BACS online payments.

Due to these issues some of XXXXX submitted and approved bank payments are not processed in the time frames confirmed by the bank. They have apologised for the inconvenience caused and we were ensured that Lloyds are working on sorting this problem in timely manner.

Therefore, if you expect a payment from us, please bear in mind that there might be a day or two days delay in receiving the funds into your accounts.

Please feel free to contact me direct if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter."

  • Did you contact your bank and perhaps arrange an overdraft to enable you to make the purchase?

By the by, it is never a good idea to plan purchases before actually receiving the funds - what would you have done if say the firm paying had gone bust?

    BACS?
Was the transfer made on Wed then if you expected it today?
  • Until it happens I never think of it, i.e. referring to Co going bust.

I'm just annoyed. I don't want any form of credit/overdraft, I pay cash for everything. I'm just highly irritated and annoyed.

I have zero clue as to the details. I invoice them on the last day of the month (31 Oct 14), my invoice clearly states 5 days from date of invoice, which they have been adhering to, until today:mad:

Sounds like this is the modern day equivilent of a customer assuring you 'the cheque's in the post'

Simple answer is Credit card, and the point you are trying to make is what exactly, when I have stated I do not purchase anything on credit as I pay for everything cash?

Tell me about it! So highly annoying. Lloyds should really get their act together and should've rectified this situation by today, but they haven't. I suspect I will have to wait until Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri:mad::mad:

There should be an easily accessible place to see if your bank is up or down for maintenance. Quite often MSE is the place.
