    Hi RMG1

I have done as you suggested and there were no yellow warnings. I updated the drivers and it is still the same.

Could it possibly be a broken part in my laptop do you think?

Its possible I suppose but I've never heard of them "getting weaker". The wireless chip on my mums laptop just broke one day and the laptop no longer found it (or highlighted an unrecognised component).

I solved it by purchasing a wireless USB adapter. I opted for the micro version which doesnt stick out (since its going to be plugged in all day and would risk snapping off, with the way my mum handles the laptop). Even though its micro version she gets 5* signal without a big dongle hanging out the side.

Hi Maas. Hadn't thought of using one of those, I had one on my old lap top. If all else fails I will give it a go.

  • I bought an acer notebook from John Lewis online 18mths back and took it back within a week and swapped to an HP and your problem was the main reason.
Hope you manage to find a solution, it drove me nuts at the time.

Thanks everyone for your help. Come to the conclusion it is the laptop. I am using an old wireless belkin dongle that I remember having and it's seems to be working ok at the moment.
