Cheap Energy Club Big Winter Switch ends 5pm! How much can you save?

It would be very simple to fix it, all they have to do is show their 'headline' annual saving as now (if they think they must do it like that) and then below it show what the annual amount would be on your current tariff (without loading it massively to take account of future, fictitious 'standard rates').
Then we could compare the latter amount with the cheap tariffs on offer in the table below.0 -

I shall delete my CEC account and use Energyhelpline in future if the above is the case - if they are showing genuine savings rather than exaggerated ones, it's them that deserve any profit from my next switch, not MSE. I strongly suggest all other CEC users do the same forthwith.0 -
They aren't fictitious 'standard rates', they are what you will pay if you do nothing to switch in the next 12 months.
Energyhelpline seam to manage it well, explaining it, and giving you the option to change it. I've setup an email alert with them now.
No point deleting your CEC account. May as well have the benefit of both and hopefully they might improve it soon.0 -
And as the results table contains no way of confirming the actual prices of the tariffs it is even more disgraceful. Surely MSE should be championing best practice? Of course I know you cannot look at table of all tariffs and mentally pick out the best one - but it is important to have those details available so you can check the one or two tariffs suggested.0

B: As the figures are being generated for people who are already sold on the idea of switching, 'doing nothing' is already the least likely option.0 -
I switched with this.
I heard Martin say that £70 is paid per switch ... and the I think I read 30,000 had switched .. £2.1million ...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam No idea why you removed it as it was something I learnt from this site - bizarre0 -

This week's email (which also mentions the 30,000 switchers at date of publication which was late Tuesday) says the energy companies pay about £60 for a dual fuel switch
[not all switchers would have been dual fuel, and not all applications will succeed for one reason or another]
However, after paying the cashback (£30 for dual fuel switchers) and other costs (which includes a payment to MoneySuperMarket.com which is just like paying yourself!) means there's about £11 per dual fuel switch left over to pay the staff and hopefully create a bit a of profit.
I would estimate MSE will make between £150,000 and £300,000 on this excercise (not including new applications made since this weeks email was published, which also included the launch of the tariff for PPM customers)
I'm not sure how many MSE employees there are dedicated to this Cheap Energy Club, but that's probably enough to pay about 5-10 for the whole year.
Gizza job, Martin! I can do that!0 -
Having never changed supplier before and having been with two separate companies I am changing to E.ON MSE Fixed 1 year collective switch. They say I will save £346.48 a year. Time will tell!0
