It's unlikely the Westminster Government is going to do anything as it would be a matter for the Scottish Parliament to sort out.peter_the_piper wrote: »Wonder if they were trying to get the BPA to urge government to change the Scottish rules. Losing/giving up would prove the ppc had no legal redress to get the money.0 -

No chance of a rule change. Our mob dont want to follow Westminster's lead! :-)0

I could imagine them giving the cowboys a "license", at a big fee of course.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Very doubtful, remember Scotland outlawed clamping by private companies a full 20 years prior to the rest of the UK, it will be the last place to allow PPC's free rein.0 -
They even offered to have disabled spaces in supermarkets come under council control. That scheme has had a very low rate of take up because the PPCs want to keep the money themselves. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Well, the Legal Eagles at the BMPA (the good guys) have found a Scottish loophole allowing for Lay Representation.
As a result, its likely some of the Scottish cases will be fought and the PPC's will start getting as bloody a nose whether they come to court dressed in a suit OR a kilt.0 -
Have you seen Pranky's take on this?

I said exactly that some time ago i.e. that UKPC was bent on intimidation, not court. However, the intimidation-by-court-papers tactic only works if people believe you will follow through (which is exactly why PE does follow through). UKPC has scored a spectacular own-goal by so publicly failing to follow through. A lot more people now know that, if they get UKPC court papers, UKPC is simply bluffing.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I've just met a pal who received a parking charge from the same UKPC which charged the two folks in the Courier's article.
They decided to nip to the Gallagher retail park last night just before closing time in the dark and rain as their kids were with family so they could get some Xmas presents on the quiet. They said they were in one store for about 25 minutes, got what they need and returned to the car to find an early Xmas present you don't want. They didn't get a ticket from the machine as it was so late on in the day and the car park was pretty much empty.
The ticket says they can contact UKPC within 14 days and 'only' pay £60 or it's £100 thereafter.
They're not sure whether to send an email/letter referencing the charge number only ( no address ) and reject the charge as it's disproportionate & excessive or just ignore it completely. They were wondering how UKPC would get their adress for any follow up harassment. Can UKPC get their address details from the DVLA ?
