  • Well we had one day partial seizure free and it’s been back again today. I think because DH has been getting up super early (and has his morning tablets when he gets up) it’s then more than the preferred 12 hours between that and the evening dose. I’m going to insist he has his tablets earlier over the next few nights and see if that makes a difference.

My lovely Grandma is back in hospital with a crushed spine :(. She was a bit high on painkillers but otherwise really good tonight. Fingers crossed she can go home in the next few days.

  • It’s degenerative beanie. She’s been having a lot of pain so went for an xray but passed out when having the Xray done, and was admitted because it took her a while to come round and they don’t know why :(.

She’s definitely a fighter though SA :A Xx

  • Hi all, the wanderer returns! Back from London :D.

Firstly, thank you for all the well wishes re Grandma. She got home from hospital on Thursday :A.

    So, London.
Train broke down on the way there, causing a 2 hour delay :(. Hotel was fantastically well positioned, right near Kings Cross station and underground, but no air con meant that it was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. Sleep was minimal and we were all grumpy by the end of the trip which was a shame as it was otherwise a great experience.

We visited the Ace Cafe (for DH), Picadilly Circus, Rainforest cafe, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Buckingham Palace, and the Shard. DH wanted to see the views from the Shard, so instead of paying to go on the viewing platform, we had a drink in the Aqua Bar on the 32nd floor. It cost £18 for 4 soft drinks  but that was still a huge saving on the viewing price for the same experience.

The actual awards were great. We were given afternoon tea and heard lots of positive stories about all 5 families. The friend that nominated us had written such a lovely piece about us :A. We were all treated to the London Eye VIP style which was great. In the end they said they couldn’t chose a winner as all 5 finalist families deserved to win so they split the prize between us! We got 12 free return train tickets (ie enough for us to have 3 trips as a family), the boys got presents such as books, sweets, mini pool table etc, and we were allowed free entry to any Merlin attraction. We had planned to visit Madame Tussaud’s on the Friday anyway, so we used the tickets then. It was a really good experience until someone was rude to DH and he snapped and shouted at them :(. It felt time for home then.

Getting the train home proved difficult too, and we had to let two overcrowded trains leave without us as there was no way I could stand all the way back to Newcastle. My feet were terrible after 3 days of lots of walking and I cried at the thought of not having a seat. Then a lovely staff member sorted it for us to get on the train before everyone else :A so we all got a seat. The train was delayed getting home so it made it a long journey and I was pleased to eventually get back.

So the summer holidays have officially started. No idea how we will cope financially but looking forward to more memory making Xx
