SA~~Do you know that the mortgage interest thing is changing next year?
To a loan to be repaid when house sold or whatever.

I had no idea Beanie :(. Have just read up on it . It says we will be sent a letter by Feb detailing our ‘options’, but I assume that just means keep getting help and owe the government it back in the future, or not accept it and have to find the money each month now? Xx

  • DH has had another partial seizure today :(. So that was just the one day off then .

My amazing friend is on the National news tonight being interviewed in relation to the changes in alcohol prices in Scotland. It’s what she’s been campaigning for since my Goddaughter passed away, and she’s hoping the minimum unit price will be adopted by England too. So proud of her using her devastating loss to spread awareness. I’m feeling very humbled.

Been out with my Grandma today who is looking canny. She’s a tough old bird and I love her to bits Xx

  • I'm glad DH seems a bit better today, it's very hard for you when he's like that :(.

How annoying about the mortgage, I know that mine will go up a bit too :(.

A longer stay in Edinburgh sounds great. I've only been there once but I loved it. I'd like to climb Arthur's Seat, go to the castle and the zoo. We only had a few hours there before a flight home, so only managed the Dungeon with our Mr T vouchers, but we all really enjoyed it :D

The Casttle is fab as is The Zoo.
Used to be able to climb Arthurs Seat & Berwick law.
Not a hope in hell now

The money has arrived from the grant, so hotel and zoo have been booked :T. We’ve never been to Arthur’s seat and it’s very much in the plan this time. We haven’t been to camera obscura or botanical gardens either, and the last time we went to the castle was years and years ago so will hopefully do some of those too. Not sure if the dungeons are too old for DS2, will look at that. I’d also like to visit the cafe where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter!

Nice to have something to look forward to Xx

I love the botanics and love scooting around on their scooters. Cafe is good.
To be honest though not sure if your DS’s won’t be bored?

Even though we are oldies OH and I both loved dynamic earth, lots of space to run around at the gardens, do they do geo caching or anything like that?

I didn't know about the mortgage interest thing Beanie.

Glad you've got a lovely break to look forward to Lucky :)
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Working in the advice sector we have been told about this - the general gist of the letters will be as you say PLMBL - either you accept the help in the form of a secured loan that is repaid on moving or death (although if the house is sold and does not make enough to over mortgage/other secured loans/charges then the debt is just written off) or you find it yourself out of your benefits.

Letters will be sent in February and everyone will get a phone call from a company working on behalf of the DWP to explain the options and where to go for advice although as there are only 2 options and benefits are low anyway I cant see many people opting for paying it themselves so not sure what advice they may need.

If you don't engage in the process the money will just stop - this is going to come as a shock to a lot of people especially people who have been receiving this money for a long time without having to fill in forms each year.
