So sorry to hear about the comments some silly young boy has made. ((PLMBL))

AS everyone else has said you are fab and just bloomin' lovely!!!

Young boys think they are being funny when actually they are very hurtful - I think its the lack of maturity.
My son and a friend made fun of a girls mum (this was on the school bus and they used to sing songs which the girl took offence to). I was called into the school and was absolutely mortified about what my son had done. I still don't know why he did it because this girls mum was no bigger than my own mother and my sister (so my son's nanna and auntie) and the other lad involved, his foster mum was also on the large side and they would never have dreamed about telling them they were fat.
They just thought they were having a giggle between themselves and did not mean to offend her.

It ended up being a good lesson in what constitutes bullying and peoples feelings etc and my DS has now turned into a nice young man.

I know its hard but hopefully you can brush yourself down and keep on standing with your head held high because you are amazing and never forget it!!!

Lucky hope you're feeling more positive now and have realised that the opinion of this hideous child is worthless xx

  • Thank you all for your support and kind comments. I still feel very down about it if I'm honest but I take on board all that you have said. At least it has made me stick to healthy eating today! Silver linings and all!

So in other, more massive news - I'm taking some extended time off work. I really can't do it any more, so two more weeks and then I'm changing to a seasonal contract. As long as I do 10 shifts per year I get to keep my discount card, and we will have to see if we can manage without the £20 per week (less diesel savings). The plan is to review how things are at the end of the summer.

I am shocked and really sorry that some silly boy has said such a thing about you. I know it is completely untrue and i hope you now realise it now too.

Well done on taking some time out from work. I think you have made the right decision.

Glad you made a decision about work. Sounds like a good compromise to me and you get to keep the discount card. I never thought we'd be able to manage on just my wages before Mr SA became ill, because he was self employed we were £2,000 a month worse off from the day he stopped working. You just cut your cloth accordingly, took some getting used to though.

  • Thanks again all, don't know what I'd do without you!!

Re work, I feel a bit guilty as I still feel I should be able to stick it out, but overall I feel relief that I won't have to go in 3 weeks time. DH hates me going and his Mum coming to 'babysit', the boys end up staying in most of the day as the whole day seems geared towards me going to work, I hate being there as it feels I'm the only one who does any work while the young ones slack off, and I normally end up shopping after work and spending money I wouldn't necessarily have spent! So, a break from it it is.

Don't want to keep dwelling on the 'obese man comments', but it's really hit some nerves. I always hope people see me as a nice person no matter what I look like, but despite all the fun things this boy and I have done (he used to be in my Beaver colony, I've taken him to parkour, I've given him lifts to school etc etc), he seems to see me just as over weight and manly looking. I never wanted to be the 'fat mum' or an embarrassment to my boys, yet in the almost 13 years of being a Mum, I'm still overweight so have failed in that goal. I don't like failing. The main thing though, is that as much as I love DS1 for stickingup for me, I really really don't want him getting in trouble over it.

Anyway, as many of you have been kind enough to point out, and have shared examples of it, kids can be cruel. I need to move on from it. Xx

Glad to hear you're taking a break from the job for a while, Lucky.
Good on DS1, it's an important life lesson; some people are ignorant and shallow. Shrug and move on.
Did you ever get around to finding a martial arts club for DS1?
