Just as an idea, if you have a back garden, can you maybe get a play pen put right outside the back door. Then train new pup to wait inside the play pen whilst OH puts on his coat. Oh gosh, I hate to say it, but train everyone that back door gets opened first for puppy then get dressed. That way if the pup does have a wee accident, it's outside which is so much easier to deal with. It will get better, think toilet training children. We all learnt eventually, just till then accidents happen.

Or if you have an enclosed back garden, maybe a dog flap might be an idea?
  • I second the dog flap idea, it took our pup a little while to get used to it (but your lads can help - one on each side with treats to get the little one to get used to jumping through!)

This does mean that provided the outside and inside water bowls are full I can go for a hospital appointment or whatever and know they can get outside and "do".
    Must use my stash up!
  • Hi all.

Pup continues to have a few accidents but feels like we might be getting somewhere. Our access into back garden is through glass patio/French doors, and to the front is a UPVC front door, so dog flap can't happen unfortunately. I've been leaving the door open as much as possible, but he has even been known to come in from the garden to wee on the carpet . I've even been outside in my nightie and no shoes when it's been a rushjov, so I don't see why DH has the luxury of a coat :rotfl:. Had a good talk with DH about that and his temper, and it's been better of late.

Nipped in to Mr A's on Friday morning and happened upon the first day of the clothing sale, so there was some good stuff to be had! Got some jeans, and 5 tops for the grand total of £24, or £21.60 after discount :T. Calling that some of my birthday money paid back!

  • Hi lucky

You will get accidents and with Penny we just learnt she loved being praised and spoilt so everytime she wee'd outside you'd think she had done something amazing! Now when she has a wee she makes sure we praise her still hahaha!

Well done on getting some of your birthday money back and ensuring you look after yourself too. xx

It all takes time Lucky re puppy training. Our dog still has the occasional accident on the doormat when Mr SA is on his own and can't move fast enough.

Glad you treated yourself to some new clothes - sounds like you got some bargains :)

  • Sorry I've been so rubbish at updating recently :o.

Think I've had another IBS flare up :(. DH couldn't remember the last incident where I ended up in hospital with it, and freaked out/got depressed in equal measure when I filled him in. I know it's not his fault he doesn't remember though. I've also suddenly developed a hacking cough today. Deep joy. Ready for the knackers yard.

On a much brighter note, I finally won something after 9 months without even a sniff of a prize! The local radio station ran a 'girl's night out' competition, and I was one of the winners. Myself and a friend went to the cinema laat night with the radio presenters, to see the new Bridget Jones' Baby film :T. We got drinks before the film, and nachos/popcorn/pop to have while we watched it. Thoroughly enjoyed the night :D. It was my last hoorah though, as I rejoined SlimmingWorld this morning. I never actually left, but felt I needed to start afresh.

In money news, things are slightly easier now that we have final been paid DH's first PIP payment!
