Tesco Mobile Early Upgrade Fee

Basically, I've had an iPhone 4 since they first came out, and ever since I've just gone onto a sim only contract, keeping the phone. The phone is now basically so slow, its redundant.
I reall fancy a Samsung Galaxy s5 but when I checked with Tesco Mobile, I can't upgrade until June 2015, and the early fee is £120!
I checked this by going on their online chat. If I phoned up, do you think I could get the price down? What could I use? Would loyalty be a good starting point? I've been with them roughly 4 years.
What do I say to them?!?!?

    Tell them this:

    Nothing.
You are tied in a sim-only contract with a minimum term. If you wanted to be able to upgrade at any time you should have used a one-month rolling contract that would have been more expensive.

BTW, a contract isn't necessarily the cheapest way (in terms of the total cost) of getting a new phone.
  • I agree with horsepills

What's the harm in trying - you are offering to sign up for 24 months and pay more! Try if that is what you are after (or consider buying outright/using a 0% card etc etc).

On the other hand you could do 'nothing' and listen to what other people tell you you SHOULD do!!!

I do love this friendly forum

You could buy a new phone and stick your current sim in it. If a S5 is too pricy there are cheaper options, that will still be quite a bit faster than an iphone 4.

What a world we live in that a top end phone costing over £500 is considered redundant only four years after its launch. The Men Who Made Us Spend (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01zxmrv) would be proud.
