Trolling of new members

I have been using this forum for 7 years, and have always loved it. Until very recently, I have never had a consumer question that hadn't already been asked and answered. Then I did, so I signed up and asked.
My profile had an image next to it, saying I was new, and pleading for tolerance.
The vat of seething hatred that followed was startling. Back in the day, I spent years undercover hunting a certain type of criminal online. So I'm used to getting hatred. But even I was taken aback by the response I got.
I would suggest patrolling newbies more carefully. I've seen everything and I do not care what random strangers on the internet think of me. But many of your new members may be more vulnerable and I would advise guarding them.

OP, I cannot see where you were called a troll in your thread. There was a bit of ribbing over your guarantees for your £1 pair of headphones mixed in with a lot of very good advice.
I would suggest your question was more than answered.
I certainly read no 'vat of seething hatred'.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Possibly some of the more vitriolic posts have now been removed (?) but the only post there at the moment which is a bit uppity and self-righteous is number #19

Difficult on an anonymous forum. All MSE has is a user-name and email address, so anyone can write anything, under the protection of anonymity..0 -

Rude yes hate no seething hatred no a few sniggers about warranty on a pair of poundland headphones is all i saw from post one onwards .Most posters just said not worth the effort for a pound .0 -

Employ more staff to patrol the forums, there are not that many newbies signing up every day......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

With respect, I believe the OP has made such a suggestion...I would suggest patrolling newbies more carefully. ...
e.g. this post where the OP claims the original purchase (and presumably the return/replacement) took place over a month prior to posting (which was itself about 2 weeks ago)1) Perspective.
2) The purchase was made the previous month when I didn't know I was about to have my account raided by my bank.
3) Poundland happened to be opposite the pharmacy I needed to go to for medication to stop me throwing up constantly.
I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition. But then no one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
