Even the regular well known posters think they are untouchable and seem to hang round in a clicky environment.

Cliques of like-minded users are one thing (and quite normal on a forum).
Cliques of trolls (whose main aim is disruption and user-targetting) are quite another thing.

Why does a spammer get to 4 posts when i follow them clicking SPAM.. It should be a one click and their 1st post is removed pending review.

Quite possibly because the Spam button was abused by people who hit it in order to remove someone's post just because they didn't like it (or them).
  • I agree people cannot just agree with others on the forum, but they could be polite when they disagree, instead of patronising and negative. I feel that posters being rude to other posters really makes the forums unfriendly.

Being able to down-vote an unfriendly reply might be helpful, as the current 'report' button seems very heavy handed.

That's an entirely subjective view though. What upsets one person won't upset many others. And it's more likely that a very sensitive person will take almost anything that doesn't agree with them, as rude, patronising or negative.

It's very hard to express emotion through a post and some will always take things the wrong way.

I agree with this. Rather than having the 'thanks' option, there should a thumbs up button and a thumbs down button. I believe that the posts that get 12-15 thanks (or thumbs up as it would be) would/could also get a dozen thumbs down too. It would give a much more balanced view of what people think if we could have a thumbs down and a thumbs up options.

There have been some posts I have seen that I don't agree with, and I have found rude and patronising, and all the poster's friends 'thank' them. So it would be more fair and balanced if people could also point out that they think the post is not helpful, and that they find it negative.

Even better would be to have neither. Why do we need a thanks button at all? Discussions would still be the same so let's get rid of it altogether.

The down vote option wouldn't be as subjective as one very sensitive person's opinion if you could see how many forum members had down voted a response.
