Any bare minerals make-up wearers? I have read that the 'Elf' primer is the same as the 'Prime time', and obviously much cheaper. As mine prime time has almost run out I will be giving it a whirl so shall report back my finding.

Is that sold in shops or online?
  • Can anyone recommend an antiperspirant that works and dries really quickly.

I can't use sprays so I have been using sure and dove dry sticks, but they are wasteful because quite a bit is left in the bit that holds it.

I haven't used a roll on for ages, but can remember the one I used taking ages to dry.

I use some of the ideas posted here, and will be trying many more.

my pharmacist told me to stop buying aqueous cream to use as a moisturiser as research had shown that it thinned the skin and could cause it to become even drier. I looked into this and found further infornm from the national eczema society. cant post links but suggest try googling eczema org aqueous

I checked out this moisturiser on Boots, 50ml of product should last you a *lot* longer than 3 months, especially at that price!
Can you tell me how you work that out please? Have you ever used it yourself? I am genuinely interested to hear how you calculate how long it would last, as I must obviously be applying it wrongly. I use very little of the Lancôme moisturiser and it very effective on my skin, unlike the cheaper stuff. I don't just put it on my face, I put it on my neck too, as it is meant to be applied. There is no way that I'm using too much of it!

If I use a jar this size of cheaper moisturiser it only lasts me about 4 weeks. I have to use *loads* of the cheaper moisturiser and I do not like the feel or effect of it, usually far too greasy, on my skin. My skin is dry and I need a moisturiser that will deal with that effectively, not sit on top of my skin like an oil slick. Therefore it is a complete false economy to use something that doesn't last as long, does not have the desired effect and is unpleasant to use.

The whole I point of this topic was to share tips to allow downshifting, which I have done. I qualified why I use more expensive moisturiser and I stand by my original post.

I bought him a razor blade sharpener for christmas last year. In reality it doesn't so much sharpen the blades as remove the crud which dulls the blade. He has got extra life from each set of blades thanks to this device. This has made his preferred choice of blades, Gilette, more affordable, as they last longer.

What is the name of the sharpener and where did you get it please? The price of my husband's blades are horrendous.

    My recommendations:
Jess brand nail polish from Poundland - good coverage in 2 coats but brilliant staying power (I use a topcoat).

I second the recommendation of Jess nail polish. It lasts much longer than other bigger brands and I get so many compliments on the colours too.

My other tip is to run a small amount of Vaseline over your hair to stop the static after drying and straightening.

It can cause irritation in some people who have eczema.

I don't use it as a moisturiser, but as a soap substitute/facial cleanser (washed off with water) I think it's fantastic. I've used it for years and years.

Sadly not quite in the pound shop but recent discoveries I've made are:

Lanacane (yes, the anti chaffing gel) is a dupe for Smashpox primer

ONLY use the antichafing gel as primer. Lanacane original has different ingredients and can cause problems if used long term

razorpit is the brand. They have their own site, but you can also buy through outlets like amazon.

He shaves his entire head once or twice a week so it has saved us a pretty penny to get a few extra shaves out of each blade.

I bought him a big multi pack of blades from costco to go with it, and he still has 4 or 5 new and unusued.
