Damper rod and valve for Baxi

I moved into a new home earlier this year which has a lift out ash box Baxi open fire.
My problem is the damper rod which is connected to the valve has snapped and I can't find a replacement long enough, modern ones are about 2 1/2 inches too short.
It's an old system probably manufactured and put in the house when it was built circa 1928-30.
The valve is now half open which doesn't stop me using the fire, but does mean I can't regulate the burn.
Any ideas how I can get a longer damper rod? I've scoured the Internet with no luck.

Well, the damper rod arrived and despite asking the company to confirm the size prior to purchase, it was 320 mm not the 420mm required and confirmed.
Back to the drawing board......all suggestions welcome??0 -
