Flying to Rome bi-monthly in the name of love

I fly every 2 weeks to Rome from London to see my partner, vice versa. We are looking for a deal which will aid in helping us expend less each month. Would anyone suggest what deals are available? We contacted BA who do not have any options.

    There's no such deal.

The best you can do is join a frequent flier scheme if available so you can occasionally redeem for cheap flights. If you're flying with budget carriers (excluding Norwegian) even that won't be an option though.

If it's regular and guaranteed some non-high street TAs might be able to get you better conditions with your tickets. For example flexible tickets for non flex prices; seat selection at time of booking etc.

Vueling are starting LGW-FCO at the end of March, so there'll be more choice.

For two passengers once a fortnight? I doubt it. Certainly not at a price that would make it worthwhile (unless you know something I don't?).

You won't getting any deals with that kind of frequency. Ryanair fly Stansted to Ciampino. If you can fly without checked luggage they should be able to get you the cheapest fares (starting at about £50 return).

Use skyscanner to find the cheapest fares. You can mix and match airports and airlines. Use low cost airlines up to say abt £80 rtn. Above that, a stash of Avios would be handy.
    Availability is great. http://www.baredemptionfinder.com/search?source=lon&destination=rom&number_of_passengers=2&class=economy
Here is the cost per single flight. They do include 23kg luggage.

    7500 Avios + £0.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver
    6000 Avios + £15.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver
    5300 Avios + £20.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver
    4500 Avios + £25.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver
    3800 Avios + £30.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver
    2500 Avios + £40.00 + £17.50 Reward Flight Saver

Cheapest flights tend to be midweek. Can you work flexibly to exploit this?

Use Skyscanner or similar to pin down best prices. Start your search at UK rather than London.

Minimise your luggage requirements. Leave things at your partner's place and vice versa.

Book ahead. Earlier bookings are usually cheaper.

Register with any loyalty schemes offered by airlines. Also Heathrow Rewards if you're somebody who spends in a terminal. Boots Advantage Card too if you haven't already got one.

Bank Avios from Tesco spending and other offers.

Use a BA Avios paid flight whenever you have a bigger luggage requirement.

Don't be too loyal to any one airline - price is king.

Avoid any spend at airports or on planes. Make yourself self-sufficient when travelling. Perhaps a post-security Boots Meal Deal is enough.

BA certainly do hand baggage only fares out of Heathrow and Gatwick. Ryanair will probably be cheaper from Stanstead.

Check out TopCashback for certain airlines and airport parking (if needed).

Or my best money saving tip: Fall in love with somebody in the UK!
