MSE News: Santander credit or debit card user? You can now earn even more cashback
Comments
-
Afraid not - you only get the cashback on "your next purchase"; it's a one-use offer and you'll only end up with 50p...
"Earn 5% Cash Back on your next groceries shop at Waitrose - in store or online at waitrose.com (maximum reward of £10). PLUS with myWaitrose membership you can save even more money, receive free gifts and win exclusive prizes. Join for free at waitrose.com/mywaitrose. Offer expires 30/11/2014 and is valid one time only."
So if I want the full cashback, I will have to roam the aisles, propositioning women with "Can I pay for your shopping with my card?" I think that is called solicitation.0 -
I don't hate Santander at all (if that meant me), I defended them against Santanderhate, but the website needs to be a lot less clunky and the perfectionist in me would redesign it - for use, not cosmetics - if I were in charge. I even took the trouble to list suggestions when they asked for feedback before the new look, but the changes were ONLY looks and nothing else.
Certainly not about to give up the cashback I make a profit on every month.
I only had the Waitrose offer when I looked yesterday, and we have got a local Waitrose but I've only been there for the free coffee with my myWaitrose card. Disability forces me to do my weekly shop online and I doubt the Waitrose offer will apply to their online side, Ocado, which I use because when I was looking for a supermarket to deliver, word of mouth said Ocado were the best. (And I like them overall, and they occasionally admit failing to be cheaper than Tesco and give me a voucher for the difference.)0 -
The terms of the Waitrose offer say "...in store or online at waitrose.com....". Can't you use Waitrose's own delivery service / order your shopping on their website and not care whether they send it by Ocado?
I can order at both, Waitrose or Ocado, but I always go directly to Waitrose.0 -

Today my offer is Hertz, so maybe they change at random as someone else thought. Won't be hiring a car either... but sooner or later something will come up that's useful. Every little counts, as they say.0 -

If 5% would be about £5 for you, your bill would be near £100. All Waitrose deliveries over £60 are free of charge.

Thanks! My spend is between £40 and £80 weekly. If I have a good, non-busy, goodish-health week before the offer runs out, and if I remember when it's my groceries-ordering day... I may explore their website then.0 -
I have two Santander 123 accounts and have had no service problems with them but the retail offers which appear for me are rubbish. I shop regularly with Waitrose but will go to other supermarkets too but there are none on my offers page. Are these individual to each customer as it appears that Argos and Morrisons this month are doing offers but they are not open for me to choose them. I have got Spa days and Heals and Clarks and Hertz, none of which I am likely to use. The only half decent one is Body Shop.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I don't bother with any of their deals like that.
The problem is, there are too many ways to get cashback on this and that these days. I would prefer it to just be automatic but TopCashback always trumps any offers and 95% of the time works - the only time it has failed me was on transactions worth less than £1, so not worth my time pursuing.
I don't often log on to internet banking anyway. My monthly statements give me all the info I need to know and I don't really need to transfer money or set up SO's very often.0 -
A welcome addition to the 123 perks. I've got 5% at Waitrose (which I will use) and 10% at Body Shop. I shop quite often at Waitrose, and this will probably get be three or four pounds off the next bill which will be very welcome.
Halifax have been running a similar scheme - Cashback Extras - for just over a year, and I have earned £28.48 from them on things I would have bought anyway (Waitrose, Argos, Morrissons).
Wouldn't have know about the new Santander scheme though if I hadn't seen this post.0
