    I agree with Game_Over the cost implications for the dealer handling a large amount of cash wouldn't seem worth it.

    It would be far cheaper and less hassle to have accepted a debit card payment.

    I know some dealers charge you a fee if using a credit card to cover the cost of the fee they are charged for processing credit cards.

    Or do you have it in your head that if you have physical cash in your hand the dealer is going to deal with you more favorably than someone who will pay the same amount but via debit/credit card?

    If you're buying a car from a dealer the best policy is to use a credit card for at a least a portion of the purchase. That way if the car turns out to be a duff, then the credit card company has a problem!
