Data Roaming Problems - Traffic Shaping?

Can anyone help, been going round and round with O2 and Three about using data abroad.


In Denmark, I use 3's (feel at home) it allows me to connect, but it is very slow.


In Portugal used O2 (cost £1.99 /day) again very slow, almost unusable.


Both countries different devices, both show a 3g connection.


Is it just me?

Some overseas networks will restrict roamers when the network nears capacity and give their own customers priority.

There's nothing as a roamer you can do about it...

Same with me and most others, I've used Three's feel at home roaming and it's nothing special but it's certainly much much better than nothing and the price is good, ie not any more than what I pay for the UK.

I found in Paris Three's data was very slow, ok for email, sat nav and a little facebook updates (slow to upload pics) but was no good for any streaming services.

In Denmark it wasn't any better really although I could just about stream some BBC iplayer radio shows.

In all cases the signal received was excellent but that has no bearing on how the data works it would seem.
