Lego Advent Calendars

Just wondered if anyone knew if these are the kind of things that stay the same price all year round or will I find massive reductions on Boxing Day?

If they do go massively down, I think I won't get my girls one this year and just buy one straight after Xmas for next year.

I tried this after last Christmas, but could only find them for sale at prices even higher than the recommended one!

I think I am just going to get in there early. Wee lad loved his last year.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

    Thank you.

Ok, another question is, do I buy two or make them share one? My girls are 6 and 4. Eek!

Hmmm if you can afford it, I would get two.

There are different types but it depends how well they share. I noticed last year some days had more fun bits, like wee men, than others (a picnic table for example) so if they use the bits to build the scene and work together than fine, if not, someone might be upset with their table and no one to sit at it if that makes sense?

Just ordered from Amazon - £14·59 compared to £19·99 direct from Lego.

I did find a Hello Kitty mini figure advent calendar in TKMax for a fiver last year. I spent most of December rescuing the stupid bits from inside the vacuum!

They are never massively reduced because the contents don't go out of date so they can be sold again next year.

I won a lego friends one last year for dd and had to buy my son a boys one so he wasn't left out (£15) if my two had been same sex I would have bough choc calendars each to open daily and gave them turns about opening the lego one to create the display.

I didn't think they were worth the money though tbh, they got a bit bored of them by halfway through Dec.

Haha, think I'd be the same!

Finally thinking about Xmas (yep, I know, I'm a bit behind) as I try to get my girls' bdays out the way first (although one's isn't for 2 weeks yet).

I don't go overboard at Xmas, so £30 for two calendars will just take away from presents from Santa that they will receive on the day, so maybe I'll just get them normal chocolate ones.

I have one of the wooden drawer advent calendars for my daughter, and this year I am planning to buy regular lego and split it between the days.
Not decided yet whether to buy 4 small sets at about £5 each, so she has a completed set each weekend to play with, or one big set to build up over the whole 24 days. I plan to photo copy the instructions so she has that days instructions only, so she doesn't know what the final model will be.

    Wow, this sounds amazing.

I'm not even sure how Lego works really, so don't think I'd be any good at this. My eldest has had a couple of kits, but I didn't know you could buy little kits that would be suitable for this type of thing.

    I'm hoping it works okay.
Hopefully what I buy will have at least 24 steps in the instructions, therefore it will be 1 or more steps per day (extra steps on the weekends when she has more time) in order, and it will be pretty easy to split up.
If there are less than 24 steps it will be a bit more complicated.

It also means at the end she will have a set that she wants, as opposed to a Christmas scene, because who wants to play with a Santa and Christmas tree in July.

Last year she got a book every day (box sets bought on offer and split in to individual books, and some 'like new' ones from charity shop), the year before a fancy eraser each day because she collects them. Not a cheap option for an advent calendar but she does like it, and I prefer to put in something decent rather than loads of chocolate and plastic tat.
